Potlatch Earnings Decline
Unfavorable markets for pulp and paper products contributed to slightly lower second quarter earnings at Potlatch Corp., the company reported Friday.
Net earnings were $9.4 million, or 33 cents per share, on sales of $413 million. That compares to earnings of $10 million for the same year-ago period.
Sales of wood products, particularly oriented strand board, were stronger than last year, said Penn Siegel, Potlatch chairman and CEO.
However, markets for printing paper and paperboard remained soft, and markets for tissue were stable.
The Spokane-based company has operations in Idaho, Minnesota and Arkansas.
