Dorothy Strope Coeur D’alene

Viewing for Dorothy Marie Strope, 85, will be Saturday at 9 a.m. at St. Pius Catholic Church in Coeur d’Alene, followed by a vigil service at 9:30 a.m. and funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at the church. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Strope, who was born in Wardner, Idaho, died Monday.

She grew up in Wallace, where her father served as a probate judge and sheriff, and graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes Academy in 1932.

Mrs. Strope attended the School of Nursing at Columbus Hospital in Great Falls, Mont., and married Lloyd Strope in 1934.

While living in Wallace she was a member of St. Alphonsus Church and was involved in various community organizations. In 1972 she moved to Coeur d’Alene and was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church.

Her husband died in 1982.

Survivors include two sons, Gary Strope of Wallace and Larry Strope of Post Falls; three daughters, Linda McKnight of Missoula, Mary Strope of Coeur d’Alene and Marianne Holling of Wallace; a brother, Robert Weinger of California; two sisters, Geraldine Hewitt of California, and Larene “Billie” Stone of Post Falls; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Monrad Jelsvik Sandpoint

Visitation for Monrad B. Jelsvik, 97, will be today from 2 to 5 p.m. at Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint. Graveside service will take place on next Thursday at 11 a.m. at Sunset View Cemetery in Berkeley, Calif. Mr. Jelsvik, who was born in Stavanger, Norway, died Monday.

He moved to the United States in 1924. He also worked as a gardener and moved to Sandpoint in 1992 to be near family.

His wife of 58 years, Lillian, died in 1992.

Survivors include a son, Robert Jelsvik; a daughter, Carol Nelson; a sister, Alida Iversen of Norway; three grandchildren, Douglas, Deborah, and James; and two great-grandchildren.

Amanda Hudson Coeur d’Alene

Graveside service for Amanda Jo Hudson, 24, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Riverview Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Miss Hudson, who was born in Monterey Park, Calif., died Friday. She graduated from high school in Whittier, Calif., in 1991 and moved to the Coeur d’Alene area in 1992.

Miss Hudson was an aide at a local preschool, and also had worked as a receptionist at a nursing home and an interior design firm.

She was a member of the Hayden Eagle Aerie 4080.

Survivors include her parents, Laura and Don Mason of Coeur d’Alene; a brother, Keef Hudson of California; and her fiance, Tim Jones of California.

Molly Galloway Odessa, Wash.

Service for Molly Sara Galloway, 7, will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint. Burial will be at Seneacquoteen Cemetery near Sandpoint.

Molly, who was born in Moses Lake, died Sunday from injuries suffered in an automobile accident near Moses Lake.

She had lived in Moses Lake, Warden and Odessa, and recently finished the second grade at Jantz Elementary School in Odessa.

Molly was a member of the Girl Scouts and had participated in accelerated reading programs.

Survivors include her parents, Joseph and Deborah “Mikey” Galloway of Odessa; three sisters and a brother, Amber, Raye, Hannah and Thomas, all at home; her grandparents, Ervin and ClaraBelle Galloway of Marlin, Wash., Raymond and Kathleen Michael, and Jo and David Wieszczenski, all of New York; and her great-grandmothers, Anna Michael of New York and Anne Famigletti of Connecticut.

Glen Strong Bonners Ferry, Idaho

Memorial service for Glen Lewis Strong, 85, will be Saturday in Eagle, Idaho. Private burial will be at Cloverdale Memorial Park in Boise. Bonners Ferry Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Mr. Strong, who was born in Nebraska, died Sunday.

He was employed at Lockheed Aircraft in California during World War II. He lived in Eagle, outside of Boise, for more than 50 years and had owned Gem Realty.

Mr. Strong moved to Bonners Ferry in 1997.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Marjorie; two sons, Glen Strong of Las Vegas and Larry Strong of Springfield, Ore.; three daughters, Marcene Zurmuhlen of California, Georgia DeHart of Bonners Ferry and Karen Oberkramer of Colorado; 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Marjorie McReynolds Spokane

Funeral for Marjorie E. McReynolds, 85, was held Tuesday at Holy Cross Cemetery. HennesseySmith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. McReynolds, who was born in Spokane, died July 15.

She attended North Central High School and worked for her father, Dr. O.G. Carroll, in his clinic as a nurse from 1937 until 1949.

She later married John McReynolds, and they moved to Chicago before returning to Spokane in 1963.

She was a homemaker.

Her husband preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, William McReynolds of Streamwood, Ill.; a daughter, Mickey McReynolds of Spokane; a brother, William Carroll of San Diego; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.

Mabel Kyler Coeur d’Alene

Private service for Mabel A. Kyler, 90, was held in Corvallis, Ore. English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls was in charge of local arrangements.

Mrs. Kyler, who was born in Yankton, S.D., died July 9.

She lived in Oregon and worked in food services at the University of Oregon for 22 years. She moved to Post Falls in 1994 from Salem, Ore.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Ross Hess in 1963 and Guy Kyler in 1987.

Survivors include two sons, Howard Hess of California and Richard Hess of Post Falls; two daughters, Crystal Waibel and Shirley Campbell, both of Oregon; a brother, Harry Olofson of North Dakota; 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Bret Humphrey Hayden Lake, Idaho

Visitation for Bret Allen Humphrey, 17, will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel. Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at New Life Community Church, 6100 Hayden Ave. Burial will follow at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens.

Bret, who was born in Pasco, died Monday from injuries suffered in an automobile accident near Liberty Lake.

He attended school in Pasco before moving to Hayden Lake in 1990, and had played basketball and sting soccer at Canfield Middle School.

Bret had recently completed his junior year at Coeur d’Alene High School, where he played football, basketball and track.

Survivors include his parents, Roger and Debi Humphrey of Hayden Lake; a brother and sister, Mike Ramirez and Amber Humphrey, both at home; and his grandparents, Peggy and Chuck Spurling of Arizona, Dan and Annie Humphrey of Post Falls, and Shari and Dave Breland of Moscow, Idaho.
