Looking Back: Fire Station No. 3 Circa 1900
At the ready. Around the year 1900, Fire Station No. 3 was built at a corner of Monroe and Sharp streets. The wooden structure was later torn down and replaced by a brick building, which still stands today. Spiked shoes gave the horses added traction on ice. Steam engineer Edward Wilson, second from right, operated the steam engine, which pumped the water. Photo submitted by Robert E. Henderson
