10 Missing Students Taken Down Mountain

Ten missing YMCA students were found safe but cold Thursday morning after they got lost during a day hike and had to spend the night on a mountainside.

A Coast Guard helicopter based in Astoria spotted the group at 6:30 a.m. Thursday under a canopy of trees at the 5,500-foot level of Mount McLoughlin.

Lost for over 12 hours, the adolescents , aged 10 to 15, were escorted out of the woods by rescue crews and appeared to be in good condition, authorities said.
