Open house planned at temple

Tens of thousands of visitors are expected to attend an eight-day open house of the new Spokane Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Valley.

The building will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday through next Saturday, with the exception of Sunday.

This is the only time it will ever be open to the public.

The temple will be officially dedicated on Aug. 21. As one of two temples in the state, it will serve 32,000 Mormans in Eastern Washington and North Idaho.

The church at 13608 E. 40th is off Highway 27 and 40th.

Talk will be on `Y2K and Bible’

Don Parks of the Parks Family Country/Gospel Music Team will discuss “Y2K and the Bible” at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the new Gospel Opry, 12013 E. Trent.

Parks will address what he believes is the approaching end of the world and what people should do to prepare for it.

He and his family will stage a concert after his speech. Admission is free.
