Man Pleads Innocent In Student’S Death
An Illinois man accused of killing an Idaho State University art student last November has pleaded innocent to first-degree murder charges.
George Tsebelis, 27, was visiting 26-year-old Emily Hays after losing his job in Parkland, Ill.
Police arrested him after finding enough evidence to link him to Hays’ murder. Her throat had been cut with a knife.
In late January, Tsebelis was found incompetent to assist with his defense. But after taking medication for schizophrenia, he was found competent in April.
His trial is set for Oct. 26 before 6th District Judge N. Randy Smith. If convicted of murder, Tsebelis faces life in prison or the death penalty.
