Stevens County Seeks Child-Rape Fugitive

From Staff

The Stevens County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a convicted child-rapist who ran from a deputy when confronted with allegations that he broke into a Chewelah-area home and choked a 15-year-old girl who was pregnant with his child.

Scott L. King, 19, has been a fugitive since the April 13 incident. He has been charged with first-degree burglary and fourth-degree domestic assault.

Court documents say King ignored repeated requests by the girl for him to leave her bedroom after he broke in. When she threatened to call for help, King allegedly started to choke her, but fled when the girl’s brother responded to her screams.

The girl’s mother said King later claimed he was trying to calm the girl by putting a “sleeper hold” on her. Sheriff’s Deputy Andy Harbolt went to King’s house to arrest him, but King outran the deputy.

King is described as white, 6 feet tall, 170 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. His last known address was 2111-A Dry Creek Road, near Chewelah. King has a juvenile record of 53 offenses, including convictions for first-degree child-rape and forgery.

Anyone with information about King should call the Sheriff’s Office at (509) 684-5296.
