De Niro Setting Busy Schedule

The Hollywood Reporter

Robert De Niro is firming up his schedule with three projects.

Aside from committing to “Navy Divers” at Fox 2000, sources said the actor is eyeing “33 Liberty Street” at Warner Bros. and is in negotiations to join Universal’s “Meet the Parents.”

“33 Liberty Street” is a New York-set love story involving a low-level hood and a terminally ill woman who plan an inside job to rob a gold reserve.

“Meet the Parents” tells the story of a young man and his disastrous introduction to his fiancee’s family. De Niro would portray the father.

Military drama “Navy Divers” is based on the true story of Carl Brashear, who made U.S. military history when he combatted racism to become the Navy’s first African American deep-sea diver. De Niro will play Billy Sunday, a rebellious master diver who was demoted for allowing Brashear to graduate. The search is on for an actor to play Brashear.
