Six Treated After Head-On Collision
Six people were hospitalized Saturday after a 12:45 p.m. accident seven miles south of Bonners Ferry on U.S. Highway 95, the Idaho State Police reported.
Kevin L. Hayes of Naples was driving southbound and slowing down for a vehicle ahead of him that was turning, police said. Hayes tried to steer toward the right shoulder of the road to avoid rear-ending the vehicle, but his 1975 Dodge pickup bounced off the curb on the right shoulder and veered across the road into the northbound lane.
His pickup collided head-on with a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder driven by Corey R. Sanchez of Denver, Colo., police said.
Hayes, 33, was treated and released at Bonner General Hospital. Three juvenile passengers riding in his pickup were treated and released at Sacred Heart Medical Center, Boundary Community Hospital and Bonner General Hospital.
Sanchez, 28, and passenger Amanda Krantz, 26, were treated and released at Boundary General Hospital.
