Spokane Task Force To Offer Help

From Staff Reports

Detectives assigned to Spokane’s serial killer task force will meet with Portland authorities today to discuss three recent murders there.

Spokane’s investigators also will share techniques about tracking serial killers with Portland authorities, sheriff’s deputies said.

There is currently no known connection between the Portland cases and the serial killings in Spokane County.

“They’re just being thorough,” said Deputy Dave Reagan, spokesman for the Spokane County Sheriff’s Department.

Portland detectives are investigating the homicides of three women who were strangled and left in a remote portion of a city park.

Spokane’s task force is investigating the murders of more than 20 women over the past 15 years. Detectives believe 10 of the murders were committed by the same person.

In the linked cases, the women were shot and their bodies dumped in out-of-the-way locations around Spokane. Most of the victims lived high-risk lifestyles - either working as prostitutes, using drugs or both.
