Elizabeth Lies Coeur d’Alene

Memorial service for Elizabeth Wayman Lies, 77, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Community United Methodist Church in Coeur d’Alene. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lies, who was born in Iowa, died Wednesday.

She lived in Illinois for 10 years and worked as the manager of the Knollwood Country Club in Lake Forest, Ill., before retiring. She moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1991.

Mrs. Lies was a member of Community United Methodist Church and volunteered at Kootenai Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert.

Survivors include two sons, Scott Wayman of Coeur d’Alene and Lee Wayman of Bellvue, Colo.; a sister, Lois Beckstrand of Minnesota; a brother, James Garrett of Minnesota; and five grandchildren.

Dorothy Bowen Sandpoint

Inurnment service for Dorothy Faye Bowen, 78, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Mount Hope Cemetery in Baker City, Ore. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint is in charge of local arrangements.

Mrs. Bowen, who was born in Sandpoint, died Tuesday.

She grew up in Sandpoint and graduated from Newport (Wash.) High School.

She worked as a waitress in Sprague, Wash.

In 1969 she moved to Baker City and married Clifford “Ford” Bowen. Mrs. Bowen returned to Sandpoint earlier this year.

Her husband died in 1975.

Survivors include two brothers, Melvin “Bud” Hanson of Sandpoint and Delbert Hanson of Chelan, Wash.; three stepchildren, Lynda Bowen of Spokane, Joe Bowen of California and Mary Bevans of Oregon; and a sister, Betty Pellens of Ponderay, Idaho.

Florence `Mimi’ Erickson Coeur d’Alene

Graveside service for Florence A. “Mimi” Erickson, 95, is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday at Riverside Memorial Park. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Erickson, who was born in Spokane, died Saturday.

She was a homemaker and lived in Hillyard for many years before moving to Coeur d’Alene 13 years ago.

Survivors include a daughter, Florence Harris of Dalton Gardens, Idaho; a son, Harry Quentin of Lewiston; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

John Moore Palm Springs, Calif.

Memorial service for John Marion Moore, 89, will be June 21 in Hayden Lake, Idaho.

Mr. Moore, who was born in Boise, died Sunday.

He grew up in Walla Walla, where his father owned the Packard Motor Car dealership.

Mr. Moore graduated from the University of Washington, where he was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity.

In 1937 he married Frances Paulsen, the daughter of August Paulsen.

He served as a major in the Army during World War II in North Africa and Europe.

Mr. Moore later became an Inland Northwest Packard distributor and co-owned Babcock Motors in Spokane.

He was involved in several other business ventures in Spokane, including North Coast Life Insurance Co. and Inland Empire Steel Buildings, now Dix Steel Co.

Mr. Moore helped found Saint George’s School and was a participant in the early planning of the 1974 World’s Fair. He was a member of the Spokane Club, Manito Country Club, Hayden Lake Country Club, and the Committee of 25 and Thunderbird Country Club, both in Palm Springs.

His first wife died in 1971.

In 1972 he married Joan Richards.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Constance Stacey, and a son, Joel Moore; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Ray Austin Mullan, Idaho

Memorial service for Ray E. Austin, 86, will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Mullan. Shoshone Funeral Service in Kellogg is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Austin, who was born near Thompson Falls, Mont., died Tuesday.

He graduated from high school in Thompson Falls and moved to Mullan in the 1930s. He worked in Montana, Idaho and Oregon as a logger. Mr. Austin also worked as a miner, retiring from the Galena Mine.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Hazel; two daughters, Elizabeth Taghon of California, and Carol Sisk of Mullan; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Opal Starr Kamiah, Idaho

Private inurnment for Opal C. Starr, 79, will be held at a later date. Trenary Funeral Home in Kooskia, Idaho, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Starr, who was born in Red Fir, Idaho, died Tuesday.

She grew up on the family farm in Red Fir and attended the Red Fir School for eight years. In 1980, she went back to school and received her G.E.D.

In 1938 she married Albert Delph. They divorced in 1943. In 1949 she married Neal Starr, and they lived in Spokane, Mead and Post Falls. He died in 1989.

Mrs. Starr worked in various jobs, including setting diamonds for a commercial driller in Spokane. In 1980 she went to work for the Forest Service in Coeur d’Alene. She retired in 1997 and moved to Kamiah.

Survivors include a brother, Ralph Brown; and two sisters, Cleo Ehler of Kooskia and Lucy Barker of Oregon.

Raymond Buckmaster Sandpoint

Private service for Raymond Clarence Buckmaster, 62, will be held. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Buckmaster, who was born in Ponderay, Idaho, died Tuesday.

He grew up in the Sandpoint area where he also attended schools. He worked as a logger in Sandpoint and Montana and was also a farmer and rancher in Eastern Washington.

Mr. Buckmaster was a longtime Sandpoint-area resident. He retired in 1995 due to health reasons.

Survivors include four children, David Buckmaster of Maple Valley, Wash., Dolly Buckmaster of Tacoma, Delbert Buckmaster of Bremerton and Candy Hare of Belfair, Wash.; a sister, Gerry Maize of Nevada; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Ethel `Dee’ Biallas Spokane

No service will be held for Ethel M. “Dee” Biallas, 75. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Biallas, who was born in Kalispell, Mont., died Saturday.

She moved with her family to Snohomish, Wash., where she graduated from high school. She married her first husband in 1943. He was killed during World War II.

Mrs. Biallas moved to Spokane in 1960.

She worked for the J.C. Penney Co. in Spokane for several years and was a homemaker, seamstress and former Girl Scout troop leader.

She was a collector of cut glass, pottery and antiques and was a member of the American Cut Glass Association and the Corning Museum of Glass.

She helped build her summer home in Priest Lake, Idaho.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Thomas; three daughters, Pamela Biallas of Bellevue, Wash., Suzanne Johnson of Blaine, Wash., and Cathy Helgeson of Waukesha, Wis.; a brother, William McKnight of Renton, Wash.; and five grandchildren.
