Lillian Kemper Spokane
Lillian (Greene) Kemper, who was born June 14, 1899, in Wilksborough N.C., celebrates her 100th birthday today.
She and Warren Kemper were married in 1919 in Dillon, Mont. The couple moved to Spokane 60 years ago, and for many years operated the Rainbow Service Stations in Sandpoint and Dishman.
Mr. Kemper died in 1973.
Their son, Warren Kemper Jr., died last year.
Her daughter-in-law, Grace Kemper, lives in Spokane. She has one grandson, four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Of her long life, Kemper said, “I always worked hard and thought nothing of it. As a young girl, I rode my Cayuse horse everywhere. I enjoyed fishing with my husband, even when I about froze to death.
“Life is just what you make it.”
