Social Workers Honored By Lcsc Students
The Student Organization of Social Workers (SOSW) at Lewis Clark State College, Coeur d’Alene Campus, recently recognized area social workers for their inspirational and outstanding contributions to the community. Awards, honorees and the organizations they support are listed.
Certificate of Excellence in Human Services St. Vincent de Paul: Lynn Peterson, executive director; Margaret Lightfoot, assistant manager; Kathy Reed, social services director; and Chris Land, transitional housing program manager.
Certificate of Excellence in Human Services First Judicial District CASA Program: Jesse Lassandro, executive director. CASA was also presented with a $100 donation from SOSW.
Dr. Ed Hutchinson, executive director of The Amend Center was also honored with a $100 donation for his positive influence through teaching and mentoring as well as the important services he provides through the center and another community service program titled, Self Discovery Inc.
Several local students have recieved scholarships from the College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls. Scholarships were awarded based on grade-point average, educational/career goals, and community and school involvement. Recipients are listed by hometown.
Rathdrum: Paula Williams, $650 Presidential.
Sandpoint: Jens Weiden, $650 Presidential, and $650 Juliet Boone Memorial; and Heather Angel, $650 Presidential, and $1,350 Lauterbach Educational.
Amber Currie, daughter of David Currie and Cathy Allen, both of Coeur d’Alene, recently received a bachelor of arts degree from Moody Bible Institute of Chicago.
Currie, who is a 1993 Coeur d’Alene High School graduate and a former North Idaho College student, studied in the International Ministries major in preparation for service as an overseas Christian missionary. Her field of study focused on the Bible’s message in cross-cultural settings and hands-on experience.
