WSU Frat Member Charged With Rape
A 21-year-old member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity at Washington State University was arrested Sunday morning for allegedly raping a woman in his basement fraternity room, according to Pullman police.
Kevin Andrew Mauermann was charged Sunday with the third-degree rape of a 24-year-old woman. Police said the incident took place between 1:30 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. Sunday.
The woman was visiting her sister on campus. The sisters and a friend met Mauermann at a bar near campus. From there, they went to a party at another fraternity house, police said.
Mauermann then persuaded the woman to go to Delta Tau Delta at 700 NE Campus. He took her to his basement bedroom and then assaulted her, police said.
In the meantime, the woman’s sister went to Delta Tau Delta asking if anyone had seen her. The sister showed a picture of the woman, but no one said they had seen the victim, police said.
A short time later she found her sister in the parking lot of the fraternity house and took her immediately to police headquarters.
The victim was taken to Pullman Memorial Hospital for a rape exam, police said.
