Nordic skiing

Mt. Bachelor reports excellent and newly groomed conditions on its 56K nordic trail this week.

The Methow Valley nordic ski area groomers have had a difficult time grooming all areas this week because of rapidly rising temperatures as well as 7-8 inches of new snow. The Sun Mountain lower trails, as well as the majority of the Mazama area, have been groomed.

Snowmobiling

At the Old Mission State Park in Shoshone County, heavy avalanche warnings have impeded grooming schedules. Trails recently groomed are Burke to the Mullan Fish Hatchery as well as the Glidden Lakes ride.

Avalanche watch

The Northwest Weather and Avalanche center has issued a high danger warning for the majority of the Washington backcountry areas because of strong winds and more snow last week.
