Clarence Caldwell Coeur d’Alene
Memorial service for Clarence LeRoy Caldwell, 80, will be today at 11 a.m. at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene.
Mr. Caldwell, who was born in Troy, Idaho, died Monday.
He grew up and attended schools in the Troy area and briefly lived in the Silver Valley and Montana, where he farmed.
Mr. Caldwell married Florence Colazzo in 1954 and lived in Seward, Alaska. He worked as a long-shoreman and owned a mechanic shop.
He settled in Port Angeles, Wash., in the mid-1960s and worked for Green Brothers Service Station for eight years before moving to Post Falls in 1974.
Mr. Caldwell moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1989 and had been a member of the Seward Elks Club.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Judith Craver of Port Angeles, Joyce Sonnabend of Spokane, Donna Caldwell of Coeur d’Alene and Florine Caldwell of Bayview, Idaho; a brother, William Caldwell of California; two sisters, Dorothy Donahue of Pinehurst, Idaho, and Maudie Guthrie of Spokane; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Maxine Davidson Bonners Ferry, Idaho
Service for Maxine E. Davidson, 83, will be at 11 a.m. today at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bonners Ferry. Bonners Ferry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Davidson, who was born in Chelan, Wash., died Monday.
She grew up in Chelan and graduated from Tonasket (Wash.) High School. She earned a liberal arts degree from the University of Washington.
In 1938 she moved to Bonners Ferry, where she owned a variety store for many years. She married Wally Davidson in 1942.
She farmed and continued her education, receiving a teaching certificate from Whitworth College.
She began teaching in 1957 and taught fifth grade at Valley View Elementary School in Bonners Ferry and ninth grade English before retiring in 1970.
Mrs. Davidson was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the P.E.O., and was involved in many community activities. She was a former Ag Farm Wife of the Year.
Survivors include her husband; four sons, Tim Davidson of Ohio, George Davidson of Sandpoint, and Kevin and Larry Davidson, both of Spokane; and one grandchild, Derek.

James Johnston Spokane
Visitation for James J. Johnston, 63, will be from noon to 6 p.m. today and Sunday at Heritage Funeral Home. Funeral is planned for 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
A 20-year Spokane resident, Mr. Johnston died Thursday.
Born in Denver, Mr. Johnston worked as a general laborer in the construction industry for several years.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte; four sons, Howard, Harold, Walter and Perry Johnston, and a daughter, Malinda Johnston, all of Spokane; a sister, Beverly Jewdish of North Glenn, Colo.; a stepsister, Judy; and three grandchildren.
Edwin Humes Spokane
Funeral for Edwin B. Humes, 88, will be at 11 a.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be at Spokane Memorial Gardens.
A lifetime Spokane County resident, Mr. Humes died Tuesday. He was born in Spokane.
He retired after working for many years at Kaiser Aluminum Mead plant.
He lived in the Chattaroy area for 45 years before moving to Spokane in 1993.
His wife, Dorothy, died in December.
Survivors include a daughter, Dorene Reynolds of Spokane; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Dianne Sandberg Spokane
Memorial service for Dianne L. Sandberg, 55, will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at Spokane Valley Seventh-day Adventist Church. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.
A 33-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Sandberg, died Feb. 25. She was born in Seattle.
She worked as a secretary in the X-ray department at Valley Hospital, and later worked as the office manager at Northwest Orthopedic and Fracture Clinic for 13 years.
Her husband of 24 years, Gary, died in 1996.
Survivors include three daughters, Tina Sanger and Tammy Bishop, both of Spokane, and Jami Masters of Everett; a son, Robert Holcomb of New Haven, Conn.; her father, Bob Sorenson of Monroe, Wash.; a sister, Shirley Janke of Spokane; a brother, Rod Courtier of Golden, British Columbia; and five grandchildren.
Osmond Wardrop Spokane
Visitation for Osmond Wardrop, 96, will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Funeral is planned for 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
An 88-year Spokane resident, Mr. Wardrop, died Wednesday. He was born in Central Lake, Mich.
He worked for the Sash Lumber Mill for over 40 years.
Mr. Wardrop played softball for the Whitepine Baseball Club and was a lifetime member of the Eagles Lodge.
He was preceded in death by two wives, Marian Wardrop and Elsie Wardrop.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald Wardrop of Priest River, Idaho, and Dennis Wardrop of Spokane; nine grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Murry Mushlitz Spokane
Memorial service for Murry Dean Mushlitz, 82, will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church. Burial was previously held at Spokane Memorial Gardens. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.
A 49-year Spokane resident, Mr. Mushlitz died Wednesday. He was born in Ontario, Ore.
He worked as an electrician for Ed’s Electric Shop for many years before retiring in 1982.
Mr. Mushlitz was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electricans.
His wife, Dorothy, preceded him in death.
Survivors include a son, Ron Mushlitz of Spokane; a daughter, Peggy Fuher of Spokane; a sister, Elaine Tupper of LaMesa, Calif.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Leona Alverson Dallas
Graveside service for Leona Alverson, a former longtime Spokane resident, will be at 10 a.m. today at Fairmount Memorial Park in Spokane. Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in McKinney, Texas, is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Alverson, who was born in Spokane, died Wednesday. She was 83.
She graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1934 and married Richard Alverson in 1940.
Mrs. Alverson was a homemaker and a member of the Order of Eastern Star Spokane Chapter 163, Westview Congregational Church in Spokane and most recently the North Park Presbyterian Church in Dallas.
She moved to Texas several years ago.
Her husband preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Michael Alverson of Dallas; and two grandchildren.
John Ryan Spokane
Memorial Mass for John N. Ryan, 84, will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A 22-year Spokane resident, Mr. Ryan died Feb. 8.
Born in Springfield, Ill., he served with the Navy during World War II, and later worked for the Springfield City Water, Light and Power Co. for many years before retiring. His wife of 48 years, Arline, died in 1983.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Gaffigan of Spokane and Billie Lou Large of Missoula; two brothers, Tom Ryan of Midland, Texas, and James Ryan of Coos Bay, Ore.; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Freda Thatcher St. Maries
Gathering for family and friends of Freda Thatcher, 87, will be at 1 p.m. today at the St. Maries Eagles Lodge. Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Thatcher, who was born in Osceola, Iowa, died Sunday.
She moved to Douglas, Wyo., in 1917 and graduated from high school there in 1929.
In 1934 she married Michael Thatcher and lived in Douglas before moving to St. Maries in 1947.
She was a homemaker, and operated a cattle and sheep ranch.
Survivors include her husband; four sons, Frank Thatcher of Wyoming, Michael and George Thatcher, both of St. Maries, and Bob Thatcher of Enumclaw, Wash.; three daughters, Susan Roop of Cocolalla, Idaho, Bonnie Thatcher of Sagle, Idaho, and Becky Borgmann of Spokane; a brother, Merlyn Crawford of Wyoming; 29 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Willis Waymire Spokane
Visitation for Willis G. Waymire, 79, will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Funeral is planned for 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
A 54-year Spokane resident, Mr. Waymire died Tuesday. He was born in Omaha, Neb.
Mr. Waymire served with the Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater and later worked for the U.S. Government in road construction in Denali Park, Alaska.
He moved to Spokane and retired from Kaiser Aluminum Mead in 1985, after 37 years of service.
Mr. Waymire was a member of Eagles Lodge No. 2, Silver Sam’s Camper Club, a 24-year member of the Fertile Valley Grange and Washington State Grange. He attended the Ridgeview Christian Center.
Survivors include his wife, Grace; a daughter, Marie Egan of Walla Walla; stepchildren, Joyce Roadarmel of Bozeman, Mont., Patti Tregellas of Spokane, Lester Barnes of Elk and Dede Barnes of Seattle; two brothers, Frank Waymire of Spokane and James Waymire of Sacramento, Calif.; 16 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren.

Mildred Pogue Pullman
Visitation for Mildred Juanita Pogue, 86, will be from 3 to 6 p.m. today, from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 11 a.m. Monday at Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman. Funeral will follow at 1 p.m. Monday at Simpson United Methodist Church in Pullman. Burial will be at the Pullman City Cemetery.
Mrs. Pogue, who was born in Herny County, Mo., died Wednesday.
She grew up and attended schools in the Herny County area.
She married Omer Pogue in 1936, and they moved to the Whelan area northeast of Pullman, where they farmed for many years. They retired in 1968 and moved to Pullman in 1982.
Her husband died in 1983.
Mrs. Pogue was a member of the Simpson United Methodist Church in Pullman, the PEO, Daughters of the Nile, a 53-year member of Order of Eastern Star Crescent Chapter 53 and a 62-year member of Whelan Grange 117.
Survivors include two nephews, Ray Pogue of Pullman and Richard Gibson of Findley, Ohio; two nieces, Marlene Garberding of Lynnwood, Wash., and Georgia Kobel of Spannaway, Wash.; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Eleanor (Bertolin) Baruffi Spokane
Vigil for Eleanor L. (Bertolin) Baruffi, 86, will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South. Funeral Mass is planned for 1 p.m. Monday at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Mrs. Baruffi, who was born in Spokane, died Wednesday.
She owned and operated the Neighborhood IGA Grocery Store at Bridgeport and Nevada for 30 years.
Mrs. Baruffi was active with the Philomathea Club and was a volunteer at the Sacred Heart Hospital Gift Shop.
She also was a member of St. Augustine, Mary Queen and Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Churches.
Her husband, Egino, died in 1978.
Survivors include a son, Jerome Baruffi of Bellevue, Wash.; six grandsons and one great-grandson.

Lillian Craig Gresham, Ore.
Memorial service for Lillian Craig, 86, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Gresham. Graveside service is planned for 1 p.m. Tuesday at Spokane Memorial Gardens. Bateman Carroll Funeral Chapel in Gresham is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Craig, who was born in Calgary, Alberta, died Wednesday.
She moved with her family to various places before moving to Spokane, where she graduated from Hillyard High School in 1931.
She married Boyd Craig in 1932 and they lived in Spokane until 1974, when they retired to Yachats, Ore.
Mrs. Craig was a homemaker and a volunteer with the Yachats Lions Club and Chamber of Commerce.
Her husband died in 1981, and she moved to Gresham in 1988.
Mrs. Craig was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Gresham and was involved with the Zarapheth Kitchen and the Women’s Guild.
Survivors include a son, Charles Craig of Graham, Wash., a daughter, Clarice Jurdy of Gresham; a brother, Elmer Kromm, and a sister, Katherine Reinehardt, both of Spokane; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Arthur Johnson St. Maries
Service for Arthur B. Johnson, 87, will be at 11 a.m. today at Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in St. Maries.
Mr. Johnson, who was born in Abo, Finland, died Tuesday.
He grew up in Emida, Idaho, and worked in the timber industry.
Mr. Johnson served with the Army in the European-African theater during World War II and moved to St. Maries after his military service.
He worked as a saw filer for Diamond International and then as a sawyer for Savy Procipo.
Mr. Johnson retired in 1976.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Esther; two sons, Gene and Maurice Johnson, both of St. Maries; a daughter, Elaine Warrington of Cheney; a half-brother, Robert Johnson of Coeur d’Alene; and nine grandchildren.
