Key to the game: Alyssa Erickson dominated the boards and sophomore teammate Leanne Snavely did an outstanding job of fronting Waitsburg 6-foot-3 star Anne Bickelhaupt.

Other highlights: Erickson had 14 rebounds as the Wildcats held a 39-32 advantage on the boards. She also added 11 points, two blocked shots and an assist. … Bickelhaupt took only five shots as the Cardinals guards had trouble getting her the ball. She was limited to two points and five rebounds before fouling out in the fourth quarter. … W-C opened the third quarter with an 8-0 run and outscored the Cardinals 21-9 in the period. … W-C’s Cherie Dreger scored a game-high 16 points.

Key to the game: The Dragons made 16 of 29 field goals in the first half and forced 20 turnovers to race out to a 45-16 halftime lead. St. George’s junior point guard Wenchi Liu gave Napavine fits all night.

Other highlights: At halftime, the 5-foot-4 Liu already had 14 points, six steals, five assists and four rebounds. She finished with 16 points, six steals, nine assists and six rebounds. Liu has now scored 106 points in two state tournaments and has 1,031 career points. … Napavine took only 36 shots - 12 in the first half - because it rarely could make it over the half-court line in the first half. … Carrie Spencer led the Tigers with 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.

Key to the game: King’s West was 4 of 21 in the fourth quarter and Waterville made 4 of 7 free throws in the final period. The Warriors didn’t score in the final 1:45.

Other highlights: Waterville’s defense stepped up in the clutch and held 6-foot-2 King’s West center Melissa Wallace to eight points. … Becka Beard scored a game-high 20 points for the Warriors on 8-of-20 shooting and added six assists. Wallace grabbed 10 rebounds. … Waterville’s sophomore point guard Catrina Dawson had all of her five points in the last quarter, including a layin with 3:01 to go and two free throws with 17 seconds left. She also had seven rebounds and three assists.

Key to the game: Sunnyside Christian jumped out to a 15-1 lead and Manson could never recover. The Trojans also couldn’t stop 6-3 center Colleen De Groot.

Other highlights: De Groot connected on 11 of 17 field goals and 5 of 5 free throws for 27 points. She also grabbed 12 rebounds to help the Knights to a 48-43 advantage. … Heather Den Boer added 15 points and 15 boards, including eight on the offensive end. … Manson’s Leslie Johnson scored all but 11 of her team’s points and pulled down 15 rebounds. The Trojans shot 20 percent (11 of 55) to Sunnyside Christian’s 37.9 percent (25 of 66). … Sunnyside Christian committed 33 turnovers in its first-round loss, but has held its miscues to 13 and 11, respectively, in two wins.

Cascade Christian 62, Seattle Lutheran 49 (OT)

Key to the game: Senior Jackie Shively of Puyallup’s Cascade Christian sent the game into overtime when she scored a layin with 6.7 seconds left. Then the Cougars made three of their first four shots in overtime and cruised the rest of the way. The Saints, from Seattle, had only a 3-pointer and a foul shot in OT.

Other highlights: Cascade Christian, making its second state appearance, went 0-2 here last year, so reaching the trophy round is huge, said junior Kristen List. The 5-7 List scored six of her 14 points in overtime, including 4 of 6 free throws. “We started off strong in overtime and that got us pumped up and kept us playing good,” List said. … Shively finished with 20 points, seven in OT, and nine rebounds. … The Cougars outrebounded the Saints 61-39 and had four players reach double digits in rebounding. Jodi Gerald and Cameron Johnson led the way with 13.

Key to the game: Ritzville came out strong after its quarterfinal loss to Napavine and quickly took control. Tekoa-Oakesdale again played without 6-foot senior Heather Cox because of illness.

Other highlights: Ritzville shot 47.4 percent (18 of 38) to T-O’s 26.8 percent (15 of 56). Senior center Megan Yerxa had a game-high 20 points on 7-for-9 shooting. Sophomore Amber Sackmann connected on 3 of 6 3-pointers and scored 12 points. … The Broncos held a 39-26 rebounding edge, led by Jamie Alspach’s 14. Alspach also was one of three Ritzville players scoring in double figures. … Tekoa-Oakesdale won’t take home a trophy for the first time since the schools combined for athletics in the 1983-84 season. The T-O Nighthawks have made 12 appearances. Oakesdale went to state three times and Tekoa twice. … T-O was led by Janette Bruce with 15 points. Betsy Smart pulled down seven rebounds.
