Turtles At Risk
Baby sea turtles swim in a tank in the Los Roques archipelago off Venezuela, where a program called Head Start is provoking debate. Scientists are trying to boost the shrinking population by raising baby turtles in tanks and skipping some of the treacherous early years in the wild. But many scientists say that does more harm than good because it disrupts the migration patterns that have helped the turtles survive more than 100 million years.
