Neighborhood Meetings

The Peaceful Valley Neighborhood Council will meet Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Peaceful Valley Community Center.

Members of the East Central Neighborhood Council are going to learn more about the state’s plans for freeway construction on the East Side.

Keith Martin, project manager for the North Side limited-access highway corridor, will be the featured guest at Tuesday’s meeting of the council. Martin will explain the state’s proposal for building a north-south freeway and its interchange with Interstate 90. Officials said construction in the East Central Neighborhood may not occur for another 20 years.

Neighbors will also hear about plans for widening I-90 through the area.

The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the East Central Community Center.

The Latah Creek Neighborhood Council has been meeting twice a month to deal with growth issues. Its next meeting is Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Tidyman’s store on the Cheney-Spokane Road.

The Lincoln Heights Neighborhood Council will meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Lincoln Heights Congregational Church, at 29th and Freya. Lincoln Heights reportedly is reviewing proposals for a new growth management plan.

The Moran Prairie Neighborhood Council meets next Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Moran Prairie Grange, at 61st and Palouse Highway.

The neighborhood recently experienced high runoff from winter storms, and the county ordered emergency pumping of new evaporation ponds at 57th and Cook.
