Presbyterian Women’S Moderator Will Speak

First Presbyterian Church will host a synodical Presbyterian Women’s gathering April 8-10. The event will welcome women from among the 273 churches in the Synod of Alaska-Northwest.

The featured speaker will be Diana Lim, the National Presbyterian Women’s moderator.

The event will include workshops on topics such as mental health, addictions, aging, laughter and meditation, care-giving, and violence against women.

The cost is $50, and the registration deadline is Wednesday. Registration information is available at Presbyterian churches.

Labyrinth planned at cathedral

The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist will host a Labyrinth Experience Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. A labyrinth is a unique form of meditation where people make their way around a maze.

The cathedral is at 1227 E. 12th. Those attending are asked to enter the cathedral through the doors facing Grand Boulevard.

Dessert auction will be Sunday

Unity Church of Truth, 2900 S. Bernard, will host its fourth annual Sweet Deal dessert auction Sunday. The bidding starts following the 11 a.m. worship service.

Proceeds will be used to help send church youths to conference.

Preschool has openings

Manito Presbyterian Church has openings in its preschool and kindergarten classes for children ages 3 to 5.

Open registration for the 1999-2000 school year starts at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Classroom tours are available.

“Ringsperation” concert scheduled

The Carillon Handbell Choir of Central Lutheran Church will be participating in a “Ringsperation” concert at 4 p.m. Sunday at Valley Christian School, 24th and Bowdish. The South side choir will be joining handbell choirs from several other area churches to perform in the annual event.

The event is free, and all are invited to attend.

Baked potato feed to be Sunday

Central United Methodist Church, 518 W. Third, will host a baked potato lunch at 11:15 a.m. Sunday.

The church will provide free potatoes, and those attending are asked to bring their own toppings.
