Van `Willie’ Tuinstra Rathdrum, Idaho
Visitation for Van K. “Willie” Tuinstra, 53, will be held from 4-8 p.m. at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. Service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Timberlake Junior/Senior High School commons in Spirit Lake, Idaho. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Athol, Idaho.
Mr. Tuinstra, who was the principal at Timberlake Junior/Senior High School, died Wednesday from a brief illness as the result of a blood transfusion he received as a teenager.
He was born in Des Moines, Iowa, and later attended the University of Wyoming and then graduated from Drake University in Iowa with a master’s degree.
Mr. Tuinstra had taught and coached wrestling at several high schools in Iowa before moving in 1981 to the Rathdrum area, where he served as the vice principal at Lakeland High School for 17 years.
He was instrumental in organizing the new junior/senior high school in Spirit Lake and became the principal there when it opened last fall.
Mr. Tuinstra attended Sagle Baptish Church and taught adult Sunday School for many years. He was also a musician.
Survivors include his wife, Karen; two daughters, Kimberlie Murphy of Michigan and Stephanie Tuinstra of Illinois; a stepdaughter, Staci Spragg of Des Moines; a stepson, Michael Newton of Rathdrum; his mother, Mary Tuinstra of Colorado; a sister, Karen Tuinstra of Colorado; four brothers, Ken Tuinstra of Athol, Mark Tuinstra of Texas, Ted Tuinstra of Des Moines and Kalvin Tuinstra of Sagle; and three grandchildren.

Vern Garner Plummer, Idaho
Memorial service for Vern E. Garner, 68, will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Plummer Bible Church. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Garner, who was born in Idaho Falls, died Monday.
In 1976 he moved to St. Maries and worked for the city of St. Maries as a water-control maintenance specialist for 12 years before moving to Plummer in 1988.
He was a member of Plummer Bible Church and was an artist.
Survivors include his wife of more than 24 years, Sheri; three sons, Randy and Brian Garner, both of Cleveland, Ohio, and Shane Garner of Coeur d’Alene; three daughters, Kathy Cooper of Louisville, Ky., and Karen Sturges and Kristina Sturges, both of Cleveland; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Wanda Dailey Sandpoint
Memorial service for Wanda Dailey, 68, will be today at 11 a.m. at Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint. Mrs. Dailey, who was born in Utah, died Tuesday.
She married Harold Dailey in 1951 and lived in Sandpoint before moving to Orofino, Idaho.
Mrs. Dailey returned to Sandpoint in 1987.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years in 1987.
Survivors include three sisters, Helen Olenslager of Oregon, and Lola Maxwell and Lois Frost, both of Utah; three brothers, James Delcomte of Coeur d’Alene, Andy Delcomte of Sandpoint, and Glen Delcomte of Kellogg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marilyn Jenkins Bayview, Idaho
Service for Marilyn Louise Jenkins, 73, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene. Mrs. Jenkins, who was born in Spokane, died Monday.
She grew up in Spokane and graduated as salutatorian at Rogers High School in 1943.
Mrs. Jenkins moved to Moscow in 1976 and then to Chehalis, Wash., in 1978, before settling in Bayview in 1981.
She won many ribbons locally in recognition of her flower arrangements and horticulture projects.
Mrs. Jenkins was involved in the Spokane Council for Campfire Girls as a leader for many years and served on the national board of Campfire Girls.
She was a member of the PEO in Spokane and Sandpoint and held offices in the Federated Garden Clubs of Washington, including as an accredited judge for the Inland Northwest.
Mrs. Jenkins was a member of the BAB Women’s Club of Bayview, League of Women Voters and The Federated Garden Clubs of America, and the local club, Ee-Dah-Haw. She was a homemaker.
She was a founding member of the Bayview Community Center and served on the Washington State Board of the American Cancer Society.
Survivors include her husband of more than 54 years, Hobart; three daughters, Susan Seiber of Issaquah, Wash., Kathy Currie of Fall City, Wash., and Patty Jenkins of Kent, Wash.; and three grandchildren.

William `Bill’ Inman Sandpoint
A gathering for family and friends of William D. “Bill” Inman, 67, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Sandpoint Eagles Aerie. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Inman, who was born in Samuels, Idaho, died Sunday.
He grew up and attended school in Samuels and then served as a medic with the Army during the Korean War and received five Bronze Stars.
Mr. Inman later returned to the Sandpoint area and worked for the Pack River Lumber Co. from 1952-79 and was a member of the Sandpoint Eagles Aerie and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia; five children, Walter Inman, Nila Harding and Gordon Murphy, all of Sandpoint, Robert Inman of Olympia, Wash., and Juliann Murphy of Spokane; two sisters, Lora Davenport of Alaska and Dorothy Rickertson of Spokane; and 13 grandchildren.

Lucille Grillo Bayview, Idaho
Memorial service for Lucille Marie Grillo, 81, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint. Mrs. Grillo, who was born in Sandpoint, died Feb. 27.
She graduated from Sandpoint High School and lived in Sandpoint for many years before moving to Goldendale, Wash., in 1960.
Mrs. Grillo moved to Bayview in 1996.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank.
Survivors include a son, Ray Puckett of Bayview; four stepchildren, Donna Miller of Centerville, Wash., Larry Grillo of Burien, Wash., Dennis Grillo of Yakima and Zell Rae Schuttie of Raymond, Wash.; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
William Van Klaveren Hayden, Idaho
Memorial service for William “Bill” Van Klaveren, 80, will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Community United Methodist Church in Coeur d’Alene. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Van Klaveren, who was born in Spokane, died Wednesday.
He graduated from North Central High School in 1938 and served with the 8th Air Force in Alconbury, England, during World War II.
Mr. Van Klaveren married Elsie Castledine in 1944 and was recalled into military service during the Korean War.
He later worked at Fairchild Air Force Base and was in charge of the flight instrument shop before becoming an inspector for the Department of Defense.
Mr. Van Klaveren retired in 1979 and moved to the Coeur d’Alene area.
He was a volunteer at the Coeur d’Alene Senior Citizens Center and a member of the Community United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years; a son, Richard Van Klaveren of Virginia; two daughters, Sandra Reher of Wyoming and Susan Laughtland of Post Falls; a twin brother, John Van Klaveren of Spokane; eight grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.

Esther Case St. Maries
A gathering for family and friends of Esther I. Case, 91, will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Benewah County Senior Citizens Center in St. Maries. Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Case, who was born in Kooskia, Idaho, died Tuesday.
She graduated from high school in Kooskia in 1927 and received a teaching certificate from Lewiston Normal School.
She married George Case in 1929, and they lived in Pomeroy, Wash., before moving to St. Maries in 1945.
Mrs. Case taught school in St. Joe City, Idaho, from 1951-52 and then taught at Fernwood in 1954 before becoming a homemaker.
Mrs. Case was a correspondent for the Spokane Chronicle, worked at the St. Maries Gazette Record and produced the St. Maries Senior Citizens Newsletter.
She was a founding member of the Benewah County Senior Citizens, serving on its board of directors, and was a senior companion.
Mrs. Case was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Her husband died in 1962.
Survivors include a son, Richard Case of Hayden, Idaho; a daughter, Shirley Wagoner of Veradale; a brother, Eric Squires of Clarkston, Wash.; a sister, Hattie Shaner of Asotin, Wash.; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Dora Lidke Spokane
Visitation for Dora E. Lidke, 96, will be from 2-8 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Funeral is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
A 94-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Lidke died Wednesday. She was born in San Marcial, N.M.
Mrs. Lidke worked as a licensed practical nurse for many years.
Her husband, Edward, died in 1941.
Survivors include two sons, William and Donald Lidke, both of Spokane; a daughter, Catherine Stanfill of Spokane; 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
