Justice Department Clears Two Aol Moves

From Staff

America Online Inc., the nation’s largest online service, won antitrust clearance to complete its $4.3 billion acquisition of Netscape Communications Corp.

The U.S. Justice Department also found competitive problems wouldn’t arise from AOL’s related $500 million strategic alliance with Sun Microsystems Inc.

The Justice Department issued a statement saying it “decided that it will not challenge the transactions, having concluded that neither the merger nor the alliance violate antitrust laws.”
