Alpine skiing/snowboarding

The Inland Northwest’s Premier Boarder Cross is Saturday at 49 Degrees North. For more on this and other activities at 49, log on to its web site: www.ski49N.com.

Saturday and Sunday, Schweitzer will hold its Traditional Spring Citizen Race, a fund-raiser for the Festival at Sandpoint.

Golf-n-Ski at Lookout Pass this weekend! Players will hit tennis balls with golf clubs all over the mountain. Fun for all ages. Info: (208) 744-1392.

Silver Mountain will hold the Silver Cup Mitey Mite Alpine Race this weekend. Silver also has spring season passes on sale. Info: (208) 783-1111.

Nordic skiing

Ten cross country trails were groomed and tracks set this week at Schweitzer, including Bear Ridge.

The Methow Valley area reports plenty of snow. It will continue to groom through the end of the month. This week, the Sun Mountain upper and lower trails down to the community trails were groomed, as well as Winthrop to Wolf Ridge. The entire Rendez-Vous system will be groomed by the weekend.

Snowmobiling

The Shoshone County snowmobile groomer reports the newly groomed Loop Creek into Avery ride is excellent this week.

Avalanche watch

Shoshone County has issued an avalanche warning in backcountry south-facing slopes. Officials also warn skiers and snowmobilers to avoid the north and eastern slope above Timberline because of highly dangerous conditions.
