Suspect Prowling Lot Arrested
A 29-year-old Spokane man was arrested Wednesday morning after a store clerk in the Spokane Valley reported that a man was prowling around cars in the store’s parking lot.
Kevin G. Sprague, 2911 E. Rowan, was arrested on a charge of second-degree possession of stolen property.
A sheriff’s deputy responded to the call from the clerk at Office Depot, 14008 E. Sprague, who said a man had tried the locks on five or six cars in the store’s parking lot.
The clerk said the man got into a 1997 Honda Civic and drove away. She wrote down the license plate.
A deputy said he discovered the suspect in the Yoke’s Pac ‘n’ Save parking lot on the corner of Sprague and Adams. He said he watched him try to open the door to a Ford Explorer parked next to his car.
The deputy then approached him and looked inside the Honda, where he spotted a laptop computer, a cell phone and six credit cards, all believed to be stolen.
Sprague was arrested and taken to Spokane County Jail.
