Kristena Beito Spirit Lake, Idaho

Memorial service for Kristena Kay Beito, 50, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at 4 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Spirit Lake.

Miss Beito, who was born in Spirit Lake, died Sunday from cancer.

She grew up in Rathdrum, and in 1966 graduated from Lakeland High School. She attended North Idaho College and in 1968 represented NIC at a national debate team competition.

She then graduated from the University of Idaho in 1971. Miss Beito worked in a salmon cannery in Alaska and a brokerage firm in California and was a card dealer in Reno, Nev.

She returned to the University of Idaho and received a juris doctorate in 1977. She practiced law for 14 years in Twin Falls, Idaho. She was active in the guardian ad litum program for abused children and was involved with Volunteers Against Violence and the Magic Valley Rehabilitation Center and served on the Walker Rehabilitation Center’s board of directors.

After receiving a teaching certificate in elementary education from Boise State University in 1997, Miss Beito taught sixth grade at Athol (Idaho) Elementary School.

Miss Beito traveled extensively and studied yoga in India and Nepal.

Survivors include her mother, Anna Beito of Coeur d’Alene; and a sister, Alea Beito of Coeur d’Alene.

Lindley “Ike” Gray Silverton, Idaho

Memorial service for Lindley C. “Ike” Gray, 89, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the United Church of Christ Congregational in Wallace. Shoshone Funeral Service in Kellogg is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Gray, who was born in Deer Park, died Wednesday.

He moved to the Silver Valley in 1935 and worked as a hoistman at the Star Mine for more than 37 years before retiring in 1973.

Mr. Gray was a member of the board of trustees for United Church of Christ Congregational and also served as a deacon.

He was a founding member of the Silver Valley Senior Citizens Council, for which he held various offices. He also served as a delegate and vice chairman for the Panhandle Area Council on Aging. He helped organize the Wallace Senior Drop In Center.

Mr. Gray was a director of the Shoshone County Sportsmen Association.

His wife of 48 years, Laura, died in 1983.

Survivors include two daughters, Rosie Hinsz of Wallace and Carol Taylor of Spokane; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the United Church of Christ Congregational or the Silver Valley Senior Citizens.

Arthur Thayer Spokane

Memorial service for Arthur Thayer, 77, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Westside Church of the Nazarene. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A 14-year Spokane resident, Mr. Thayer died Tuesday. He was born in Onida, S.D.

He served in the Pacific Theater with the Marine Corps during World War II.

He was the mayor in Priest River, Idaho, for eight years during the 1970s.

Mr. Thayer worked as a heavy equipment operator in road construction for several years.

He was member of Westside Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include his wife, Fern; two sons, Kenneth Thayer of Spokane and Guy Anderson of Redmond, Wash.; a sister, Mildred Heath of Glenns Ferry, Idaho; a brother, Willis Thayer of Chehalis, Wash.; eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Josephine Allison Spokane

Visitation for Josephine G. Allison, a lifetime Spokane resident, will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home. Funeral is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Trentwood.

Mrs. Allison died Monday. She was 79.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church.

Her husband, Bardine Allison, died in 1969.

Survivors include a son, Dan Allison of Spokane; two daughters, Gennie Cummings of Spokane and Marge Glaze of Wentachee; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

John Donahue Coeur d’Alene

No service will be held for John F. Donahue, 69. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Donahue, who was born in Boston, died March 18.

He graduated from high school in Boston and served in the Army before returning to Boston.

Mr. Donahue then lived in California and Alaska and worked in the construction business, including involvement with the Alaskan Pipeline project.

He moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1975 and became co-owner of Ronco Construction before retiring in 1980.

Mr. Donahue was an artist.

Survivors include his companion and former wife, Sharon Donahue; two sons, John Donahue Jr. of West Richland and Joseph Donahue of Colorado Springs; three daughters, Irene Wilson of Bayview, Idaho, Joan Dehner of New Mexico and Vivian Newby of California; two stepsons, Dave and Kenneth Young, both of Coeur d’Alene; a stepdaughter, Kathy Jordan of Coeur d’Alene; two brothers, Walter Donahue of Georgia and Bobby Donahue of Massachusetts; 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Hazel Johnson Kellogg

Service for Hazel V. Johnson, 96, will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Kellogg. Shoshone Funeral Service in Kellogg is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Johnson, who was born in Pullman, died Tuesday.

She grew up in the Spokane area and worked at a dime store as a teenager and in 1920 worked at the Davenport Hotel, where she was head waitress in the fountain and bakery section for four years.

Mrs. Johnson later moved to the Silver Valley and worked at the Paris Grill in Kellogg and as a cook at various mining camps before owning Johnson’s Cafe in Kingston and Smelterville, Idaho, before retiring after 50 years.

Her husband, Oscar, died in 1979.

Survivors include three grandsons, David, Dale and Michael Lambert; five great-grandchildren, two sister-in-laws and several nieces.

Memorials may be made to St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Kellogg.

James Lunceford Spokane

No service will be held for James P. Lunceford, 70, at his request. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Lunceford, who was born in Minneapolis, died Monday.

He lived most of his life in Coeur d’Alene and worked as a butcher. Mr. Lunceford moved to Spokane three years ago and was a member of the Catholic Church.

Survivors include three sons, Jerry Lunceford of Clarkston, Wash., Jim “Boomer” Lunceford of Coeur d’Alene and Don Lunceford of Arkansas; five daughters, Dana Robinson and Jeani Quade, both of Coeur d’Alene, Mikey Mohoff of Arlington, Wash., Kelli Streeter of Dalton Gardens, Idaho, and Karen Collins of Illinois; two sisters, Earlene McLeod of Hayden Lake, Idaho, and June Johnson of Minnesota; 21 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Edward Trampus Spokane

Vigil for Edward J. Trampus, 59, will be at 8 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Mass is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Burial will be at the Jump Off Joe (Wash.) Cemetery.

A lifetime Spokane resident, Mr. Trampus died Tuesday.

He worked as a boilermaker in the construction industry for several years.

Mr. Trampus was a member of the Moose Lodge, National Rifle Association, Boilermakers Union Local 242, Alcoholics Anonymous, Eagles Lodge 2, Diamond Lake Beach Club and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife of 14 years, Sandra; two sons, Eddie Joe Trampus of Spokane and Andrew Trampus of Pittsburg, Texas; a daughter, Dana Meade of Helena; two stepsons, Ted and Joe Cushner, both of Spokane; his mother, Hazel Trampus, and a brother, Daniel Trampus, both of Loon Lake, Wash.; four sisters, Carmon Bellamy and Donna Butler, both of Spokane, Mikki Anderson of Loon Lake and Monica Flett of Wellpinit, Wash.; and seven grandchildren.

Judee Berger Post Falls

Memorial service for Judee DeAnn Berger will be held at a later date in Portland. English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls is in charge of local arrangements.

Mrs. Berger, 59, died March 17.

Born in Portland, she lived in Oregon for most of her life. She worked as a legal secretary and also had worked in sales and marketing.

She moved to Post Falls in 1995.

Mrs. Berger was a member and officer of the National Association of Legal Secretaries and was active in several bowling and pool leagues.

Survivors include a son, Corey Berger of Oregon; a daughter, Kellie Berger Whiting of Post Falls; her mother, Margaret Angelo of Oregon; and three grandchildren.

Iva Dilday Cataldo, Idaho

No service will be held for Iva Dilday, 80. Burial will take place at Bisaro Cemetery in Kingston, Idaho. Shoshone Funeral Service in Kellogg is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Dilday, who was born in Arkansas, died Tuesday.

She married Ed Beare in 1935, and they settled in Cataldo. She was a homemaker.

Her husband died in 1960, and she later remarried and divorced.

Survivors include a son, Neil Beare of Cataldo; two daughters, Eve Powers of Kingston and Irma Pickard of Cataldo; four sisters, Sylvia Beare, Ina Bershaw, Inez McGee and Eve Shock; and numerous grandchildren.

Dorothy Grutzmacher Coeur d’Alene

Graveside service for Dorothy M. Grutzmacher, 91, was held Thursday at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls.

Mrs. Grutzmacher, who was born in Kansas, died Tuesday.

She lived in Clay Center, Kan., and worked as a health food distributor for Spring Green before moving to Coeur d’Alene in 1987 to be near family.

Her husband, Dale, died in 1979.

Survivors include a brother, Harold Brady of Illinois; and four sisters, Bernice Stuewe of California, Eloise Spitznas of Indiana, Joanne Garrett of Kansas and Mary DePerault of Coeur d’Alene.

Dorothy Ross Spokane

Funeral for Dorothy G. Ross, 82, will be at 10 a.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Private burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

A lifetime Spokane resident, Mrs. Ross died Tuesday.

She had been the owner, manager and president of Wandermere Golf Course since 1940. She helped her husband, Bill, build it.

Mrs. Ross was a member of the Daughters of the Nile.

Her husband died in 1975.

Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Brown of Spokane; a son, Bob Ross of Spokane; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Ellsworth Price Spokane

Visitation for Ellsworth Price, 83, will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North. Funeral is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Price, who was born in Montana, died Tuesday.

He served as a sergeant first class and infantry paratrooper with the Army for many years and retired in 1966.

Mr. Price later worked as a brakeman conductor for the Burlington Northern Railroad.

He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Sinto Senior Citizens Center, Eagles Lodge 2 and American Legion Post 9.

His first wife, Mollie, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his second wife, Ella; two stepsons, Kenneth Solverson of Nine Mile Falls and Glenn Solverson of Spokane; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one greatgreat-granddaughter.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

MacKenzie Brown Spokane

Memorial service for MacKenzie Michael David Brown, 13, will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Goldendrod Cemetery in Tekoa, Wash. Kramer Funeral Home in Tekoa is in charge of arrangements.

MacKenzie, who was born in Spokane, died Saturday.

He attended Orchard Avenue Grade School and was a seventh-grader at Centennial Middle School.

Survivors include his parents, Jeffery and Christine Brown of Spokane; two sisters, April Kopp and Dani Couch, and a brother, Kiefer, all of Spokane; and his grandmother, Louise Ewing of Seattle.

Jacquiline Gilkison Spokane

Memorial service for Jacquiline L. Gilkison, 68, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home.

A lifetime Spokane resident, Mrs. Gilkison died Monday.

She was a homemaker.

Her husband, Vern, died in 1994.

Survivors include two sons, Bruce Norton of Airway Heights and Thomas McMillan of Spokane; four daughters, Tereasa Ashbaugh and Patsy Lindberg, both of Spokane, Pamela McMillan of Airway Heights and Mary Toone of Texas; her mother, Naomi Beckham, and a sister, Carolyn Crawford, both of Spokane; and 12 grandchildren.

Sharon Munro Spokane

Funeral for Sharon L. Munro, 56, will be at 2 p.m. today at Sunset Mausoleum Chapel on the grounds of Fairmount Memorial Park. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A lifetime Spokane resident, Mrs. Munro died Tuesday.

She worked as a support enforcement officer for the Washington State Office of Support Enforcement for several years.

Survivors include a son, Scott Munro of Spokane; and two brothers, Larry Kevis of Spokane and Roger Kevis of Seattle.
