LineSoft has added the following people to its staff:
G. Richard Baldwin was hired as western regional sales director responsible for sales of the company’s software products. Baldwin previously worked as a consultant to companies launching e-commerce ventures. He also has held sales positions at IBM and ISC Systems. Baldwin earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering from UCLA and an MBA from Cal State University Long Beach.
Lance Simmons joined the company as senior programmer. His responsibilities include supporting the company’s software development, computer networks and database systems. Simmons, who most recently worked for Washington Trust Bank, is working toward a degree in computer information systems at Eastern Washington University.
Mel Haberman has joined the Intercollegiate Center for Nursing Education/Washington State University College of Nursing as associate dean for research and funded projects.
Haberman is the first person to fill the post, which was created to support faculty research and cultivate new sources of extramural research funding. He previously was an assistant staff scientist at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle and remains an affiliate investigator at the center. Haberman earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing through WSU/ICNE in 1971 and received a doctor of nursing science degree from the University of Washington in 1987.
Liz Porter has joined Tomlinson-Black Valley as a Realtor. She previously worked in the field of property management and in banking.
Pauline M. Love, a retired Shoreline School District teacher and administrator, has been elected to Gonzaga University’s Board of Trustees. Love, who graduated from Gonzaga in 1959, began her teaching career in Pomeroy, Wash., and moved to the Shoreline School District in Seattle in 1961. She was director of personnel services when she retired last year.
Patricia Forrest has joined the Spokane-Manito office of Windermere Real Estate as associate broker. Forrest previously worked for eight years at Prudential Real Estate in Salem, Ore.
Moving up:
Thomas Stewart has been promoted to senior vice president of construction administration for Action Mortgage Co. Stewart, manager of Action’s Residential Construction Loan Department, will oversee residential construction lending in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. Stewart joined Action in 1989 after nine years with Western Heritage Federal Savings of Pendleton, Ore. He is a graduate of Eastern Oregon State College.
Sterling Savings Bank has promoted the following employees:
John Mielock, who joined Sterling in 1993 as facilities manager, was named a vice president. He is responsible for all properties owned or leased by Sterling and its subsidiaries as well as contract services, purchasing, central supply, transportation services and distribution. Prior to joining Sterling, he held various facilities-related positions with Security Pacific Bank.
Trisha Kissler, Manito branch manager, was promoted to vice president. She joined Sterling in 1987 to open and manage the Manito branch after more than 20 years in branch management and operations with Bank of America.
Rob Stewart, Argonne branch manager, was named assistant vice president. Sterling hired Stewart last year to manage the Argonne branch. Prior to joining Sterling, he was CEO for Grocer’s Federal Credit Union for six years, vice president of marketing and sales for Kroma Graphics and a commercial loan officer for Seafirst in Seattle for eight years.

Kirk Thames was promoted from area manager to president. Thames has been with the company for nearly seven years and became a property manager in 1995. Earlier, he was in aerospace manufacturing and technical sales in Southern California. He is a licensed Realtor, an accredited residential manager and a candidate for certified property manager.
Jennifer Hieb and Heidi Westerhoff were promoted from assistant area manager to junior area manager.
Jennifer Lucke has been promoted to second vice president at the Spokane office of Salomon Smith Barney. Lucke, a financial consultant, has been with the firm for more than eight years. She is a graduate of Eastern Washington University.
Starting up:
Erika Heaton has been named manager of Car People Agency’s new Eastern Washington office. A graduate of the University of Washington, Heaton joined Car People in 1996 in Bellevue. Her territory will be all of Eastern Washington, plus Idaho and Montana. Car People Agency is a full-service employment agency which offers placement services and training seminars for the automotive industry.
Physical therapists Rudolf and Janis Kreps have opened an aquatic therapy center at 7780 Mineral Drive in Coeur d’Alene. Included in the 4,000-square-foot building are a rehab center, a rehab gym and a 94-degree heated therapeutic pool. The facilities will be used for a mix of rehabilitative and preventative services.
Moving:
Dr. Stephen P. King, a Spokane Valley family doctor for the past 10 years, is moving his office to the North Pines Professional Center, 1005 N. Pines, Suite 230, effective April 5. Also affected by the move are Thomas Vincent, a physician’s assistant, and Peggy Clemons, a registered nurse practitioner.
