Ramps Extended

Lake Roosevelt

Officials at Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area are taking advantage of the current water level drawdown to extend existing boat launch ramps at Seven Bays and Bradbury Beach.

The Seven Bays ramp is being extended 290 linear feet. This will enable boats to be launched at water levels 35 feet lower that the current ramp allows.

The official pool elevation in which launching can occur will drop from 1,262 feet to 1,227 feet. Construction should be completed before Memorial Day, said Dan Hand, National Park Service spokesman in Grand Coulee.

The ramp at Bradbury Beach is scheduled to be extended 200 feet, from an elevation of 1,265 to 1,245 feet, he said, noting that the projects are funded through boat launch fees.

The drawdown is under way in anticipation of major runoff predicted in the Columbia watershed. Lake levels were projected at a season low of around 1,220 by this weekend.
