Watch For Birds

Endangered species

Volunteer birdwatchers are being recruited by the National Audubon Society to help keep track of threatened bird species.

“Audubon’s WatchList program leads the conservation community from rear-guard responses to a strategy that puts citizens in the vanguard, actively setting the agenda for protecting birds they care about,” says an Audubon news release.

State-by-state lists of declining species have been developed based on surveys by state and federal agencies. Birdwatchers can participate in surveys and other helpful efforts.
