A Day Without Barney Would Truly Be Perfect

Tina Carey Correspondent

What is the perfect Mother’s Day? A day at the spa? Hiking on your favorite trail?

Since my daughter is only 4, I thought I’d give her a little help on what my perfect Mother’s Day would be:

1. Wake up and read the paper without interruptions.

2. Barney and Elmo would sleep all day.

3. No chores.

4. A hug every hour.

5. Dinner at home that I didn’t have to think up and cook.

Are these the moms you’d pick?

If they could, moms across the country would trade places for a day with (in order) Rosie O’Donnell, Hillary Clinton, Phylicia Rashad, Jane Seymour and Goldie Hawn. That’s according to a survey by Whirlpool Home Appliances.

Well, even if you can’t trade places with them, you can live like the stars for a weekend if you win one of Whirlpool’s all-expenses paid trips to New York City.

To enter, submit in 75 words or less what your greatest gift as a mother is. Kids also may nominate their mothers, explaining the greatest gift their mothers gave to them.

Mail your essay to Whirlpool’s Mom’s Greatest Gift, P.O. Box 39101, Chicago, IL, 60639 or enter through their web site at www.whirlpool.com.

The deadline is June 15.

Free Gift

Having a child or adopting a child on Mother’s Day is about the best gift you could get.

But one company thinks it has an offer that’s almost as good.

Kodak is offering a new camera and a roll of film, along with other goodies, to any mother who gives birth on May 9 or adopts a child on May 10.

To receive your gift, mail a certified copy of your newborn’s birth certificate or adoption papers to Kodak Advantix Picture Perfect Mother’s Day, P.O. Box 5431, Young America, MN 55558-5431. Requests must be received by Aug. 31.
