NEW FACES:

Theresa Sullivan has rejoined Sedgwick of Washington Inc. as the receptionist. Sullivan previously worked as the office receptionist, but left in 1994 to be home with her children.

Sedgwick Noble Lowndes, a division of Sedgwick of Washington Inc., has hired Lesley Hutson to assist Brett Flanagan and Jacque Van Dyke with employee benefits and 401(k)s.

Cavanaughs Hospitality Corp. has added Stephen Blank, a senior fellow, finance, for the Urban Land Institute, to its board of directors. Blank has served as managing director, real estate investment banking, for Kidder, Peabody & Co., Cushmann & Wakefield Inc. and CIBC Oppenheimer Corp. Last September, he was named adjunct professor of real estate for Columbia University’s executive MBA program. He joined the Urban Land Institute as a senior fellow for finance last December.

Cliff Couse, co-owner of Couse’s Sanitation & Recycle Inc. in Republic, Wash., has been appointed to the board of trustees of the Washington Refuse & Recycling Association. Couse, whose company serves the northeastern Washington communities of Republic, Curlew, Orient, Danville and Wauconda, replaces Michael Olson, of Chewelah, Wash., who resigned upon the sale of his company late last year.

MOVING UP:

Timothy M. Lawlor has become a principal in the law firm of Witherspoon, Kelley, Davenport & Toole. Lawlor has been with the firm since 1993 in the litigation department. His civil litigation practice will continue to emphasize condemnation, employment law and class actions.

Paul Lineback has been named vice president and general manager of recently formed Pyramid Products Inc. Lineback, who joined the company last fall, is a graduate of Washington State University in marketing. The company, which distributes nationwide and on the Internet, has developed a new way for avid collectors or pro shops to display golf balls.

Mark P. Higgins has been promoted to financial manager of the Furniture Systems Group of Kimball International Inc. The group includes four business units and five manufacturing plants. Higgins previously was director of finance and accounting at Harpers Manufacturing in Post Falls.

CERTIFICATIONS:

Shelley L. Lee and Jan Keifer have completed the National Orthopedic Nurses Certification Examination and achieved the designation of orthopedic nurse certified (ONC). Candidates must have a current, unrestricted license as a registered nurse, have two years of experience practicing as an RN, and have a minimum of 1,000 hours of work experience as an RN in orthopedic nursing in the past three years. Both Keifer and Lee work at Shriners Hospitals for Children-Spokane.

Interim HealthCare has received accreditation with commendation from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. The accreditation, which is the highest level awarded by the commission, followed an on-site survey of Interim HealthCare last August.

April Humphrey, a certified public accountant with McFarland & Alton P.S., has been awarded the designation “Certified Fraud Examiner” by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. To qualify, candidates must meet a stringent set of criteria, including strict character, experience and education requirements. Humphrey, who has been with McFarland & Alton for more than two years, specializes in compliance issues for the audit department.

Kristin Largent of Concentra Managed Care Inc. has been awarded certified case manager status. Largent, who received a master’s degree in counseling psychology from Gonzaga University, serves Spokane, Eastern Washington and North Idaho. She has eight years of case management experience with authorizations in utilization review, home health agencies, skilled nursing facilities and as a mental health coordinator, as well as 18 years of experience in nursing.

Judy Allen, executive director of Community Action Center, has received certification as an economic development finance professional from the National Development Council. To be certified, candidates must complete a training series, including a comprehensive written examination. Allen, who has been executive director of the Community Action Center since its founding in 1988, has been instrumental in the development of numerous community and economic development projects in Whitman County.

KUDOS:

Quinn Group Advertising, Marketing & Public Relations has been awarded a Citation of Excellence for its “Dough Boy Stationary Package” created for Fugazzi Bakeries. Creative team on the project included Vic Holman and Bonnie Quinn. Entries in the 1999 Northwest Advertising Awards competition were judged on their creative excellence with a focus on solid advertising designed to meet real marketing objectives.

Hope Reports Inc. has ranked North by Northwest Productions as one of the Top 100 Industrial Contract Producers of 1998, based on annual gross revenue. The ranking puts it ahead of 10,000 other production companies nationwide. Industrial producers create sales, product, public relations and training videos and films, interactive multimedia and Web sites for corporations and institutions. North by Northwest, with more than 40 full-time employees, has operations in both Spokane and Boise.
