Catholic Conference At Gu

The 1999 Marian-Eucharistic Conference is scheduled for May 28-30 at Gonzaga University. The theme of this year’s event is “Returning to the Father through Jesus and Mary in the Light of the Holy Spirit.”

The featured speakers include Bishop William Skylstad of the Spokane Catholic Diocese, Bishop Kenneth Steiner from Portland, Gonzaga President Fr. Robert Spitzer and Fr. David Baronti, a missionary living in Guatamela.

Cost: $30 for adults, $5 for youth. Admission is free for clergy members of all denominations. To register, call 328-9062 before May 21.

United Methodist meeting

Audubon Park United Methodist Church, 3908 N. Driscoll Blvd., will host the Spokane United Methodist District Conference annual meeting on May 16. The event begins at 2:30 p.m., with information displays on several local missions run by the United Methodist Church. The day will end with a worship service at 5:15 followed by dinner at 6 p.m.

Cost: $7 for the meal. Reservations must be made by calling 838-3085 before Tuesday. Child care will be available if requested by Tuesday.

Benny Hinn crusade in Portland

Several buses will be leaving Spokane Wednesday to travel to the Benny Hinn Miracle Crusade happening in Portland on Thursday and Friday. The buses will leave from the Spokane Christian Center, 8909 E. Bigelow Gulch Road, at 9 a.m. Wednesday and arrive in Portland at approximately 5 p.m. The buses will leave Portland at 10 a.m. Saturday for the return trip.

The cost varies from $90 to $210 per person based on the number of people in your group. Reservations must be made by calling Carole Shook at 535-0741 by Monday.

Precept Ministries training

The Precept Ministries Institute of Training will be in Spokane June 3-5 to offer several classes based on the Precept method of Bible study. The event will be hosted by the Berean Bible Church, 10910 E. Boone.

Scheduled classes include “Finding the Meaning of Greek Words,” “Overview of Spiritual Gifts,” “Review of Analyzing Thought Structure” and “How to Discover and Understand Tense, Mood and Voice of Greek Verbs.”

Cost: Varies from $25 for a half-day class to $105 for three days. A $5 discount is available on registrations received by Monday. To register, call Kay Kinley at 838-8432 or Paul Smart at 921-2151.

Catholic women meeting

The Diocesan Council of Catholic Women will host its spring meeting on May 19 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 2320 N. Cedar. The meeting will run from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. and will include a luncheon.

Cost: $6 for lunch. Register by calling Denise at 328-7193 before next Saturday.

It keeps going and going and going

“Y2K - The Play” seems to have nine lives as it is brought back by popular demand for its ninth run at the First Assembly of God Church, 828 W. Indiana. The free encore performances begin at 6 p.m. Sunday and on May 16. Call 326-9332 for information.
