Trees To Be Sprayed To Kill Gypsy Moths

From Staff

The Idaho Department of Lands will spray a stand of trees near Post Falls next Wednesday to eliminate gypsy moths.

The area extends from the south side of Railroad to south of Ohio Match Road, in the area east of Seeley Street.

Spraying also will occur at 7- to 10-day intervals. The bacterium, Bacillus thuringiensis occurs naturally in the soil and is toxic only to the caterpillar stage of certain moths and butterflies. Still, the public should minimize its exposure to the spraying, the Department of Lands said.

People living within the spray area are encouraged to remain indoors during the spraying and for the following 30 minutes, or until the spray has dried.
