Beetle Hike Saturday
The Lands Council is sponsoring the Beetle Hike in search of beetle-infested trees on Saturday.
The public is invited on the hike in the Idaho Panhandle National Forest near Hayden Lake. This area has been targeted for massive tree removal due to the Douglas Fir Bark Beetle. This is an opportunity to check out Forest Service claims and get outside.
A carpool has been set up and those interested should meet at 9 a.m. at The Lands Council office in Spokane, 517 S. Division; or at 9:45 a.m. at the Forest Service office in Coeur d’Alene, 2502 E. Sherman Ave.
You should bring lunch, water, rain gear, camera and binoculars. Light hiking shoes/boots are suggested.
