Road Work To Delay Traffic On Interstate
Motorists should expect delays along Interstate 90 through and west of Coeur d’Alene over the next two weeks.
A state bridge repair crew will be doing maintenance work Sunday on the westbound portion of I-90 that passes over state Highway 41.
Vehicles wider than 14 feet will be diverted onto Seltice Way at Exit 6 from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m., said Barbara Babic, Idaho Transportation Department spokeswoman.
Westbound Exit 7 will be closed during the same period.
Beginning Monday, crews will start sealing cracks in the shoulder along I-90 from Northwest Boulevard to Sherman Avenue. Work is expected to take two weeks.
The freeway will remain open while the work is being done, but the shoulders will be closed. The speed limit along the stretch will be reduced to 55 mph.
The repairs are in preparation for a resurfacing project scheduled to begin July 6. Work on the $778,000 resurfacing project will be done at night to lessen the delay to motorists.
South of Coeur d’Alene, safety improvements will begin Monday along a three-mile stretch of state Highway 6. Up to 30-minute delays are expected between mileposts 32 and 35. Work is expected to last two or three weeks.
