Shadle Park’s Jessica Murray pitched a no-hitter Friday, and every team faced offensive struggles during the District 8 4A softball tournament at Franklin Park.

Murray blanked Lewis and Clark 4-0 to send the Highlanders (18-3) into Tuesday night’s district title game against University.

Megan Owen pitched a two-hitter and singled twice to lead U-Hi (20-1) to a 3-0 win over Central Valley.

Both winning teams were limited to four hits. U-Hi’s Nicki Meyer, with the double, had the day’s lone extra-base hit among the four teams.

The tournament wraps up Tuesday. LC (15-7) plays CV (13-9) at 3:45 p.m. for the third and fourth seeds to the Region IV tournament at Richland. U-Hi and Shadle play at 6 for the top two seeds.

Lucy Wilson had a two-run triple in the sixth inning, and Republic defeated Selkirk 5-0 in the championship game of the Panorama League tournament at Kettle Falls.

Melody Koontz pitched the seven-hit shutout for Republic.

Republic (21-1), the league’s regular-season champion, advances as the top seed to the May 22 District 7 B tournament at Deer Park. Selkirk (17-5) earned the No. 2 seed.

Selkirk made the championship game with a 22-21 win over Springdale. Stephanie Smith capped Selkirk’s eight-run ninth with a grand slam.

Springdale (18-4) defeated Northwest Christian 8-3 for the third and fourth seeds to district. NWC, 14-9, had opened the day with a 6-5 win over Wellpinit on Glenda Gudiel’s one-out homer in the seventh.

Curlew (16-6) defeated Inchelium for the fifth and final district berth. Inchelium, Cusick and Wellpinit were eliminated during the day.

District openers are: Republic vs. Curlew; Selkirk vs. Bi-County League No. 3 Ritzville (10-13); Springdale vs. Bi-County No. 2 Odessa (17-5); and NWC vs. Bi-County No. 1 Almira/Coulee-Hartline (20-3).

Cari Heinemann had three hits and Angie Bruce homered to help Rosalia defeat St. John-Endicott 16-12 in the Whitman County League tournament openers at Rosalia.

The Spartans (9-10) qualified for the District 9 B tournament and eliminated SJE (5-16).

Also at Rosalia, Holly Hall and Andrea Meyer homered during a nine-run first, and Colton held off LaCrosse-Washtucna 10-9.

Colton (9-11) eliminated the Tigercats (8-12).

The tournament concludes today at Garfield, in games that will determine seeding to the May 22 district at Kennewick. Today’s openers are Colton vs. Whitman County No. 1 Garfield-Palouse (16-3), and Rosalia vs. WC No. 2 Tekoa-Oakesdale (10-10).
