Olive Spangle Sandpoint
Graveside service for Olive E. Spangle, 100, will be today at 10 a.m. at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Sandpoint. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Spangle, who died Tuesday, was born in Little Falls, Minn.
She moved to Sandpoint in 1910 and graduated from Sandpoint High School.
In 1927 she married Leland Spangle and they settled in Dover, Idaho. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Rexall Drug Store and for the Bonner County Co-op before retiring.
Mrs. Spangle was a past president of the Sandpoint Civic Club, had been active in Sandpoint and Dover community affairs and also served as a judge at the Bonner County Fair.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Survivors include two children, Duane Allen of Kentucky and Pauline Palmer of Las Vegas; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Richard Smith Priest River, Idaho
Funeral for Richard Irving Smith, 67, will be at 3 p.m. Monday at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Priest River. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Priest River. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Priest River is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Smith, who was born in Haverhill, Mass., died Wednesday.
He was raised and attended schools in Haverhill, until 1949. He moved to Pomona, Calif., and graduated from high school there in 1951.
After high school he attended San Antonio College in Pomona and later earned his bachelor’s degree from Central State College in Edmond, Okla., and his master’s from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff.
In 1957 he married Mary Tankersley.
Mr. Smith taught school in Pomona for several years. He moved to Priest River in 1970, where he taught for several years and later became the principal at Lamana High School.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Jeri Stone of Almira, Wash.; a son, Dan Smith of Lake Stevens, Wash.; a brother, George Smith of Newport, Wash.; and five grandchildren.
Theodore Blacker Moscow, Idaho
Service for Theodore Martin Blacker, 80, will be at 2 p.m. today at Short’s Funeral Chapel in Moscow. Burial will follow at Moscow Cemetery.
Mr. Blacker, a lifetime Moscow resident, died Wednesday.
He graduated from Moscow High School and worked at Northwest Seed Co.
In 1946 he married Mary Turnidge.
He worked for Inland Motor Freight Co. and Spence Electric. He later started Ted Blacker Electric, retiring in 1995.
Mr. Blacker was a member of the United Church of Moscow, the Moscow Elks Lodge, the Jim Beam Bottle Association and served as the captain of the Moscow Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Theodore “Mark” Blacker of Moscow and Darrell Turnidge of Kent, Ohio; a daughter, Joan Stockwell of Colfax, Wash.; a brother, William Blacker and a sister, Frances Flack, both of Moscow; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Carol Ann (Hoehne) Simonson Spokane
Memorial service for Carol Ann (Hoehne) Simonson, 59, will be at 10 a.m. today at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A lifetime Spokane resident, Mrs. Simonson died Sunday.
She worked as a registered nurse at Holy Family Hospital for many years Mrs. Simonson was an accomplished organist and pianist and played at religious services, weddings and funerals at Westminster Presbyterian and St. Joseph’s Catholic churches.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond; three sons, William Johnson of Bothell, Wash., Anthony Johnson of Seattle and Matthew Johnson of Spokane; two daughters, Theresea Ungerecht of Woodinville, Wash., and Catherine Johnson of Spokane; her mother, Dorothy Hoehne of Spokane; a brother, William Hoehne; and 11 grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church or to the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate, National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows, Belleville, IL 62223-1160.
Richard Huber Hayden, Idaho
Visitation for Richard “Dick” Huber, 73, will be Monday from 9 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m. at Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene.
Mr. Huber, who was born in Halliday, N.D., died Thursday.
He grew up in Halliday and served with the Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
Mr. Huber attended the Mohler Barber College in Seattle after his military service. In 1950 he married Emma Klinger and they moved to Wallace.
He owned a barber shop in Wallace until he moved to Hayden in 1973. He opened Richard’s Barber Shop in Coeur d’Alene.
He retired in the early 1990s, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Masonic Lodge. He was a former member of the Elks Lodge and the Shriners.
Survivors include his wife; a brother, Hilmer Huber of Minnesota; and three sisters, Freida Sailer, Ida Swanson and Ann Intergaard, all of North Dakota.

Carl Hopkins Spokane
No service will be held for Carl S. Hopkins. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hopkins, who was born in Otis Orchards, died Monday. He was 69.
He served in the Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Hopkins owned and operated Hopkins Roofing in Spokane for 30 years.
Survivors include a brother, Gene Hopkins of Naples, Idaho; and a sister, Marie McCartney of Spokane.
Lotus Jones Spokane
Private service for Lotus O. Jones, 84, will be held at a later date. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Jones, who was born in Malta, Mont., died Wednesday.
She graduated from Ritzville (Wash.) High School.
Mrs. Jones was a homemaker and a 30-year Spokane resident.
Her husband of 57 years, Carl, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Harvey Jones and a daughter, Susan Parsons, both of Spokane; a brother, Joe Wilkening of Seattle; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Ewen Ferguson Coeur d’Alene
Graveside service for Ewen C. Ferguson, 87, will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene. Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Ferguson, who was born in Waldo, British Columbia, died Thursday.
He had served with the Army during World War II, seeing action in the Battle of the Bulge. He later settled in the Coeur d’Alene area and worked as a newspaper printer.
Mr. Ferguson was also a printer in Montana for several years before returning to the Coeur d’Alene area.
He was a past member of the Coeur d’Alene Eagles Lodge and the Coeur d’Alene Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his sister, Peg Kelly of Coeur d’Alene; four nephews and one niece.
Bradley Rulffes Spokane
Funeral for Bradley C. Rulffes, 27, will be at 1 p.m. today at Hennessey Valley Funeral Home. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Trentwood.
Mr. Rulffes, who was born in Spokane, died Wednesday.
He graduated from Ferris High School in 1989 and attended Spokane Community College.
Mr. Rulffes had been working as a foreman in the construction industry and he was known for his artistic abilities.
Survivors include his parents, Walter and Shirley Rulffes of Henderson, Nev.; a brother, Craig Rulffes of Phoenix; and a sister, Brenda Pellitteri of Seattle.

Daniel Wilson Spokane
Funeral for Daniel Wilson, 79, is planned for 1 p.m. Monday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
A 53-year Spokane resident, Mr. Wilson died Tuesday. He was born in Campti, La.
He served in the Army during World War II and later worked as a maintenance supervisor for a department store for many years.
Mr. Wilson was served as deacon at Mount Olive Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Elizabeth; two sons, Robert Wilson of Spokane and Joseph Wilson of Seattle; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
