A Navajo Masterpiece
A corn dancer katsina is the central figure of the three-dimensional mosaic on this gold bracelet made by Navajo jeweler Lee Yazzie between 1880 to 1883. For the decoration, he also used turquoise, coral, mammoth ivory, jet, ironwood and serpentine. The bracelet, from the Collection Mundy and Tanner, is featured in the book “North American Indian Jewelry and Adornment,” by Lois Sherr Dubin.
