Benewah County St. Maries
Benewah County residents who spray noxious weeds on their property may be eligible for reimbursement. Benewah County has applied for a state grant to pay a portion of the cost of killing knapweed, thistle and hawkweed. Applications are available through the Benewah County Extension Office and must be submitted with receipts by Sept. 1.
Bonner County Priest Lake
The Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation is providing recreational boaters who launch at Priest Lake State Park “loaner” life jackets. The life jackets are available through grants from the U.S. Coast Guard and a land-based life jacket program. Jackets are available in all sizes.
Boundary County Bonners Ferry
The Boundary County Community Action Agency is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping residents fulfill immediate needs and become self-sufficient. The agency is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. For information, call (208) 267-3663.
Latah County Moscow
Link Transportation Systems Inc., a private, for-profit passenger and express bus company based in Moscow, has been honored along with 176 other businesses nationwide with a 1999 Blue Chip Initiative Award. The Blue Chip program is one of the nation’s premier small-business recognition programs. Link Transportation President Jerry L. Schutz will receive the award at a regional ceremony this summer.
Shoshone County Wallace
A Y2K workshop for small businesses will be held June 2 in Wallace. Participants will learn how Y2K will affect small businesses, discover a process for finding potential Y2K problems, and learn how to form a project team and develop a remediation and testing plan. MONTANA
Lincoln County Libby
The Montana Highway Patrol will begin enforcing the state’s new speed limits Friday. The daytime limit for passenger vehicles will be 75 mph on interstates, 65 on highways. Night speed limits will be 75 on interstates and 65 on other roads. For trucks, the new limit is 65 mph on interstates. On other highways, truck limits will be 60 mph during the day and 55 at night.
