Theater

St. Therese of Lisieux will be brought to life on stage by actress Maggie Mahrt during a 4 p.m. performance on Nov. 14 at the Immaculate Heart Retreat Center, 6910 S. Ben Burr Road. The 70-minute one-woman drama is called “The Story of a Soul.” St. Therese, known as “The Little Flower,” was a Carmelite nun who was 24 in 1897 when she died of tuberculosis.

Cost is $15 for adults, and $12 for seniors and children 12 and under. For tickets or more information, call the retreat center at 448-1224.

Christian Youth Theater is performing “The Adventures of Mr. Toad” at 7 p.m. today and Nov. 12 and and 13; with matinees at 3 p.m. The play is an adaptation of “The Wind in the Willows.”

The theater group, a national program available in 10 cities, is a nonprofit theater arts education program offering classes in drama, voice and dance for youths ages 6-18.

World Community Day

World Community Day will be celebrated with a special program at 9:30 a.m. today at Centenary United Methodist Church, 1012 S. Freya. Guest speaker is Vicenta Cisneros, a former Methodist minister from Coeur d’Alene. Theme of the service, sponsored by Church Women United, is “God’s Passionate Love: Holy Laughter, Holy Tears.” The program includes a worship service and luncheon. Cost is $5.
