Ronnie Fair scored a pair of goals and No. 7 Stanford outshot Washington State 24-4 in defeating the Cougars 4-0 Sunday at New Maloney Field in Stanford, Calif.
The win gave the Cardinal (14-4-1, 7-1-1 Pac-10) their first Pacific-10 Conference women’s soccer title since 1996 and fourth overall. The Cougars are 7-12, 1-8.
In the season finale, sophomore goalkeeper Lindsey Jorgensen had 11 saves, bringing her season total to a WSU record 126. She broke Natalie McDowell’s record of 123 saves in 1993.
Senior Christina Pallan also set a Cougars record with her 73rd career start.
Amy Johnson connected for a pair of second-half goals to lead Pepperdine (11-7-1, 2-5) to a 4-0 season-ending victory over Gonzaga (7-13, 1-6) in a West Coast Conference women’s soccer match in Malibu, Calif., on Sunday.
Gonzaga (7-13, 1-6) managed just five shots on goal compared to 25 for the Waves.
