Inmate May Face Charge After Jail Arson
A Spokane County Jail inmate may be charged with first-degree arson after allegedly lighting toilet paper on fire in her cell, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
Jacquiline Pagel, 28, was in jail on charges of residential burglary and first-degree escape. Around 2:30 p.m. Monday, she set fire to toilet paper inside her locked cell, deputies said.
A jail corrections officer noticed fire and smoke coming from under Pagel’s jail door. The cell was opened, Pagel removed and the fire extinguished.
Pagel was “arrested” on first-degree arson, but wasn’t charged.
