Alfred `Bud’ Nason Spokane

Service for Alfred C. “Bud” Nason, 77, will be at 1 p.m. today at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Born in Camden, Wash., Mr. Nason died Monday. He moved to Spokane as an infant.

He graduated from Ione (Wash.) High School.

Mr. Nason served in the Navy on the USS Enterprise during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He also served in the Navy Reserve for 11 years and the Coast Guard Reserve.

In 1947 he married Elsie Lautenschlager.

Mr. Nason worked as a body-and-fender repairman and retired in 1986.

His wife died in 1991.

He is survived by a sister, Sylvia Myhre of Spokane.

Luella Hammond Spokane

Inurnment for Luella Delores Hammond, 78, will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Fairmount Memorial Park. Memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at St. Peters Lutheran Church. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home-North is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Java, S.D., Mrs. Hammond died Nov. 12.

In 1938 she married Raymond Schuh. They farmed outside Java until moving to Spokane in 1956. She later married Robert Hammond. Mrs. Hammond was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Crystal Chandeliers Dance Club, the Veterans of Foreign Wars , and the Eagles Lodge.

Her husband, Robert Hammond, preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Holly Hasan of Portland and Bonnie Silva of Carmichael, Calif.; a son, Jon Schuh of Spokane; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peters Lutheran Church, Hospice of Spokane or Cancer Patient Care.

Dale Hiatt Kettle Falls, Wash.

Memorial service for Dale C. Hiatt, 70, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Riplinger Funeral Home.

Born in Jameson, Mo., Mr. Hiatt died Tuesday. He was a resident of Kettle Falls for 13 years.

Mr. Hiatt served as a records specialist with the 814th Supply Squadron in the Air Force.

He worked in the maintenance department of School District 81 for 15 years.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Pat Hiatt; his children, Lonny Hiatt of Spokane, Tim Hiatt of Nine Mile Falls, Terry Gerritsen and Sherry Gleave, both of Oregon City, Ore., Rosemary Diaz of San Antonio, and Lou Moss of Alpharetta, Ga.; a sister, Ilah McCubbin of Kansas City, Mo.; and numerous grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.

Helen Landerholm Federal Way, Wash.

Memorial service for Helen (Schwartze) Landerholm, 99, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Federal Way United Methodist Church. PriceHelton Funeral Chapel in Auburn, Wash., is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Landerholm, who died Saturday, was born in Yakima.

She received a bachelor’s degree in education from Washington State College in 1922. In 1924 she married Edwin Landerholm.

Her husband died in 1961 and then Mrs. Landerholm moved to Spokane.

She entered the real estate profession in 1963 and worked for Laughary and Johnson Realtors. In 1969 she was named sales associate of the year by the Spokane Board of Realtors. She retired in 1983.

Mrs. Landerholm was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.

She moved to Federal Way in 1998.

Survivors include a son, Robert Landerholm of Lummi Island, Wash., and Mesa, Ariz.; three daughters, Jean Landerholm of Spokane, Arlys Tressler of Auburn and Frances Baker of Portland; two sisters; one brother; 18 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Edwin F. and Helen L. Landerholm Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o the Washington State University Foundation, or to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.

Roberta McGarvin Spokane

Visitation for Roberta Louise McGarvin, 75, will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Funeral service is planned for 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Born in St. Maries, Mrs. McGarvin died Monday.

She was a resident of Spokane for 57 years and was a homemaker.

Mrs. McGarvin was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America and St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph McGarvin; two daughters, Peg Grant of Spokane and Cindy LaLonda of Centralia, Wash.; a son, Jim McGarvin of East Wenatchee, Wash.; and five grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.

Robert Jordan Spokane

Funeral Mass for Robert James Jordan, 74, will be at 10:30 a.m. today at St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Duluth, Minn., Mr. Jordan died Sunday. He was a 58-year Spokane resident.

He served in the 4th Infantry Division in the Army during World War II and participated in the invasion of Normandy. He received the Bronze Star and two Purple Heart medals.

Mr. Jordan worked for Old National Bank for five years before going into investment banking. He retired from Dean Witter in 1994.

He was a member of the North Spokane Rotary, the Spokane Country Club and the Elks Lodge.

Mr. Jordan is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joy.

Danny Bichler Nine Mile Falls

Memorial service for Danny R. Bichler, 56, will be at 11 a.m. today at Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Veradale. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in New Rockford, N.D., Mr. Bichler died Sunday. He was a resident of Nine Mile Falls for 20 years.

He graduated from Central Valley High School Mr. Bichler served in the Army for two years during the 1960s.

He was a lineman for Washington Water Power in Spokane and Colville for 20 years. He worked for Inland Power and Light for 10 years, until his death.

Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Karen Drabbels Bichler; five sons, Kevin and Tony Bichler, both of Spokane, Jeff Bichler of Medical Lake, Danny Bichler of Post Falls and Todd Bichler of Seattle; a daughter Kara Bichler of Spokane; his mother, Melba Bichler of Hauser Lake, Idaho; two sisters, Cheryl West of Spokane and DeeAnn Teeter of Hauser Lake; and seven grandchildren.

Esther Milliken Creston, Wash.

Memorial service for Esther L. Milliken, 90, is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at Creston Christian Church. Strate Funeral Home in Davenport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Wilbur, Wash., Mrs. Milliken died Tuesday.

She was a longtime Creston resident and worked as a cook in restaurants in the Wilbur-Creston area and at Lincoln Hospital.

Mrs. Milliken was a member of the Creston Civics Club.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Arnie Arneson and Harry Milliken.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Creston Ambulance Fund or the Creston Cemetery Fund.

Frank `Pete’ Burns Enumclaw, Wash.

Private family service for Frank “Pete” Burns, 81, will be held. Weeks Enumclaw Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Burns, a former 30-year Spokane resident, died Saturday. He was born in Pittsburgh.

He worked as a chemical salesman for Van Waters and Rogers and retired in 1982.

He was a member of the 1918 Club and the Volksmarch Club.

His wife of 52 years, Betsey, died in 1995.

Survivors include two sons, Steve Burns of Seattle and Peter Burns of Hillsboro, Ore.; a daughter, Cindy Cleveland of Enumclaw; and six grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Enumclaw Senior Center.

Nicholas Davidow Veradale

Memorial service for Nicholas A. `Nick’ Davidow, 19 will be at 11 a.m. today at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Private burial service will follow at Pines Cemetery. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Whitefish, Mont., Mr. Davidow died Sunday from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.

He graduated from University High School in 1999.

Mr. Davidow is survived by his parents, Frank and Debra Davidow of Veradale; three brothers, Eric and Mark Davidow, both of Veradale, and Steven Davidow of Mill Creek, Wash.; grandparents, Bob and Eileen Noland of Trego, Mont., and Ted and Shirley Mikita of Fortine, Mont.

Memorial contributions may be made to University High School or the YMCA Building Fund.

Ruth Johnson Spokane

Service for Ruth B. Johnson, 82, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park.

A 77-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Johnson died Monday. She was born in Spokane.

Mrs. Johnson was a salesclerk for Stanley Home Products.

She was a member of the Rock Rollers Club and First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur “Sonny” Johnson.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by two sons, Lawrence and David Johnson, both of Spokane; a daughter, Sharon McDaniel of Spokane; two sisters, Mary Farnsworth of Spokane and Ester Meredith of Kirkland, Wash.; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.

Thomas Plummer Farragut, Idaho

Memorial service for Thomas Lewis Plummer, 75, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Yates Funeral Home in Hayden, Idaho, Hayden Chapel. A reception will follow at the Yates Hayden Chapel Gathering Center. Mr. Plummer, who was born in Elberton, Wash., died Monday.

He grew up and attended school in Elberton before serving with the Marine Corps during World War II. He married Sylvia Novak in 1946.

Mr. Plummer moved to Spokane in 1947 and worked for Intermountain Equipment for 25 years, and for Sahlberg Equipment for 10 years, retiring in 1982.

He moved to Farragut Village, near Athol, Idaho, in 1983. He was a 32nd degree Mason with the Manito Masonic Lodge and was also a member of the Hayden Friends Church. Mr. Plummer was also a licensed pilot.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert Plummer of Farragut Village; two daughters, Sandra Harris of Spokane and Nancy Rodgers of Coeur d’Alene; two brothers, Bud Plummer of Klamath Falls, Ore., and Robert Plummer of Great Falls, Mont.; a sister, Mable Bridge, and a half-brother, Bill House, both of Garfield; and four grandchildren.

Valiree Jackson Spokane

Memorial service for Valiree B. Jackson, 9, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at McDonald Elementary School. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Valiree, who was born in Spokane, disappeared Oct. 18. Her body was found Wednesday.

Valiree was a student at McDonald Elementary and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Deer Park.

Her mother is Roseanne Stone Pleasant.

She is survived by her father, William “Brad” Jackson of Spokane; a half-brother, Jokten, and two half-sisters, Cynarra and Angela, all of Spokane; grandparents, Dick and Karen Jackson, and the Rev. Rufus Stone; great-grandmothers, Virginia Tilton and Thelma Jackson.
