Robert Lowell Spokane
Private funeral will be held for Robert “Bob” J. Lowell, 75, at a later date at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North. Burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
Born in Spokane, Mr. Lowell died Thursday.
He graduated from North Central High School in 1942.
Mr. Lowell served in the Navy during World War II in naval intelligence in China. He also served during the Korean War.
He married Betty Mizell in 1946, and owned and operated Lowell Industries in Spokane from 1947 to 1970. He then worked as a sheet-metal worker for American Sign and Indicator from 1970 until he retired in 1986.
Mr. Lowell is survived by his wife; three sons, Gary and Michael Lowell, both of Spokane, and Dan Lowell of Sacramento, Calif.; a sister, Joan Little of Spokane; and one grandchild.
Lois Clegg Colfax, Wash.
Graveside service for Lois Elaine Clegg, 77, will be at 2 p.m. today at Colfax Cemetery. Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Colfax, Mrs. Clegg died Friday.
She graduated from Colfax High School in 1940 and later graduated from Kinman Business College in Spokane.
She married Robert Clegg in 1941, and they lived in Santa Maria, Calif.
Mrs. Clegg moved back to Colfax during World War II and worked as a secretary at Colfax High School and then the Old National Bank.
She and her husband later owned and operated Elliott’s Paint Store in Colfax. They retired in 1977 after 27 years in business.
She was a member of United Methodist Church and the Colfax Golf Club.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Margaret Smith and Carol Walker, both of Moscow, Idaho; a son, Robert Clegg of Omaha, Neb.; a sister, Dorothy Murray of Spokane; and four grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Whitman Hospital Foundation or the Whitman Home Health and Hospice.
William Biklen Bremerton
Service for William Harold Christian Biklen, 89, will be at 10 a.m. today at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Bremerton. Cremation will be held at Cherry Grove Memorial Park in Poulsbo, Wash.
Mr. Biklen, who was born in Burlington, Iowa, died Friday.
He graduated from Burlington High School and received a degree in accounting from the University of Illinois in Champange, Ill.
Mr. Biklen worked as assistant to the secretary and treasurer at Cowles Publishing from 1944 to 1972.
He moved to Bremerton 2-1/2 years ago.
Mr. Biklen was a member of the University Club, Spokane Club and Plymouth Congregational Church.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Ellamae; two daughters, Barbara Klaudt of Colfax, Wash., and Anita Williams of Bremerton; a sister, Mary Reipe of Wisconsin; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Earl Thompson Spokane
Funeral Mass for Earl Homer Thompson, 91, will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Thompson, who was born in Almira, Wash., died Thursday.
He graduated from Colville (Wash.) High School in 1927.
During the Depression, he worked on the telegraph crew for the railroad and at a Colville sawmill.
Mr. Thompson served in the Navy as a yeoman 1st class during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart.
After the war, he returned to Spokane and worked as a clerk for the Postal Service for 23 years, retiring in 1972.
He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
His wife of 47 years, Mary, died in 1990.
Mr. Thompson is survived by several sisters.
Bernard Carney Mead
Funeral Mass for Bernard J. Carney, 79, will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Colbert. Inurnment will be held Saturday at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A lifetime Spokane resident, Mr. Carney died Friday.
He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II and worked as an electrician for a local utility company.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Colbert, the Model T Club and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Helen; two sons, Michael Carney of Harrington, Wash., and Timothy Carney of Tacoma; three daughters, Jayne Wilkinson of Mead, Kathleen Brown of San Juan Capistrano, Calif., and Eileen Patton of Mission Viejo, Calif.; two sisters, Juanita Winger of Spokane and Ruth Bronkhurst of Idaho; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Glenndora Deking Ritzville, Wash.
Service for Glenndora “Glenny” (Thiel) Deking, 82, will be at 11 a.m. today at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Ritzville. Burial will follow at the Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville is in charge of arrangements.
A lifetime Ritzville resident, Mrs. Deking died Saturday.
She graduated from Ritzville High School in 1935. She married Ernest Deking in 1943 and they farmed near Ritzville.
Mrs. Deking later worked as an assistant treasurer for Adams County treasurer’s office.
She was a volunteer for the Gritman Senior Center, and was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and a past noble grand of the Rebekah Lodge in Ritzville. She also was the past treasurer of the Ritzville Alumni Association.
Her husband died in 1972.
Survivors include three sisters, Helen Griffith of Spokane, Eleanor Deking of Ritzville and Edna Kinzel of Moses Lake.

Ethel Siegenthaler Spokane
Service for Ethel V. Siegenthaler, 90, will be at 11 a.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
A 70-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Siegenthaler died Saturday. She was born in Canada.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Lewis; a son, Richard Siegenthaler, and a daughter, Julie Chard, both of Walla Walla; two sisters, Myrtle Fristad and Ruth Moran, both of Ione, Wash.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Spokane Junior Academy.
Edward Devine Spokane
Funeral Mass for Edward J. Devine will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Private inurnment will be held at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Anaconda, Mont.
Mr. Devine died Thursday. He was 96.
He was born in Kirkintilloch, Scotland, and was an 81-year Spokane resident.
Mr. Devine served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, and was vice president of Seafirst Bank.
Mr. Devine was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, St. Vincent DePaul, Catholic Charities and the Spokane Flyers Club.
There are no surviving family members.

Donna Hawley Spokane
Service for Donna R. Hawley, 63, will be at 11 a.m. today at Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
A 30-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Hawley died Wednesday. She was born in Kansas City, Mo.
She worked as a sales clerk at ShopKo for 12 years.
Her husband, Larry, preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Larry and Leigh Hawley; two daughters, Luana and Laura Hawley; her mother, Mary Sutton; four brothers, Herbert Cloe, James Cloe, Ronald Storey and Henry Sutton; and four grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Lloyd Banks Greenacres
Memorial service for Lloyd Dean Banks, 70, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home.
Mr. Banks, who was born in Lynd, Minn., died Wednesday.
He was a resident in the Spokane area, including Cheney and Greenacres, for 65 years.
Mr. Banks graduated from Cheney High School in 1947 and served in the Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Banks graduated from the Milwaukee (Wis.) School of Engineering in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, and worked in that field until he retired in 1992.
Survivors include his wife Karol; two sons, Steven Banks of Spokane and David Banks of Priest River, Idaho; a sister, Mariam Bartlett of Cheney; two brothers, Jack Banks of Auburn, Wash., and Bruce Banks of Salem, Ore.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Jean Mahlum Spokane
Graveside service for Jean M. Mahlum, 90, will be at 11 a.m. today at Spokane Memorial Gardens. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Mahlum, who was born in Hensel, N.D., died Friday.
She moved to Spokane in 1962 and worked as a bridal consultant for The Crescent department store.
Mrs. Mahlum was a member of Central Lutheran Church and the Esther Circle.
Her husband, Sanford Mahlum, died in 1988.
Survivors include a son, Ron Mahlum of Missoula; two daughters, Kay Brandenbury of Spokane and Arlene Page of Thorp, Wash.; two sisters, Ruth Lium of Nampa, Idaho, and Beatrice Hunter of Alaska; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Beatrice Keene Huot Coeur d’Alene
Memorial service for Beatrice Keene Huot, 102, will be today at 2 p.m. at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. Mrs. Huot, who was born in Park Ridge, Ill., died Saturday.
She grew up and received her education in Evanston, Ill., where she received special training in music and the arts, and earned a degree in violin from the American Coservatory of Music in Chicago.
Mrs. Huot moved to Sandpoint with her family in 1915 and taught music in Spokane, Sandpoint and Priest River, Idaho.
She married Dewey Huot in 1928. The couple operated the Quartz Creek Cattle Ranch and the Priest River Grain and Milling Co. before moving to Pullman in 1945. They retired to their summer home in Priest Lake, Idaho, in 1954.
In 1988 Mrs. Huot moved to Coeur d’Alene, and in 1989 her husband died.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Magleby of Coolin, Idaho, and Joanne Huot Hall of Columbus, Ohio; a sister, Sarah Harris of California; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Evelyn Barlow Coeur d’Alene
Private burial for Evelyn G. Barlow, 82, will be today at Greenwood Memorial Terrace in Spokane with Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene in charge of arrangments.
Mrs. Barlow, who was born in Granite, Idaho, died Friday.
She grew up and attended school in Bayview, Idaho, and then married Ernest Coston and settled in Spirit Lake, Idaho.
They later divorced, and she moved to Spokane for several years and then to Klamath Falls, Ore.
She later moved to Reno and married Darl Barlow. He died in 1994.
Mrs. Barlow moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1999.
Survivors include two daughters, Marlene Simons and Anne Nelson, both of Coeur d’Alene; a brother, Perry Napier of Washington; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
