Advent retreat

The Monastery of St. Gertrude in Cottonwood, Idaho, will host an Advent retreat Dec. 3-5. Stories, art and music will be used on the spiritual journey, titled, “Coming Home to Oneself.”

The monastery is operated by the Benedictine Sisters.

Jewish Fellowship

The Messianic Jewish Fellowship of Spokane will celebrate the Feast of Dedication (Chanukah) at 6 p.m. Dec. 5 at Broadway Elementary, 11016 E. Broadway.

The evening will include a potluck dinner.

Those planning to attend are asked to bring a main dish and dessert or salad. All dishes must be biblically kosher.

Families are also asked to bring a chanukiah, a nine-branch candlebra, for a special lighting ceremony.
