Submissions Needed For Bumbershoot

Bumbershoot, The Seattle Arts Festival, is seeking performers, artists and vendors for its arts celebration at the Seattle Center over Labor Day weekend, Sept. 1-4.

Categories available for participation include performing, visual and literary arts, “1-Reel Film Festival, “Artists in Action,” “Taste of Seattle,” the Art Market and International Bazaar.

Submission deadlines are: Jan. 14, visual arts; March 1 for performing and literary arts, “Artists in Action,” “Taste of Seattle,” the Art Market, and International Bazaar; and May 1 for “1-Reel Film Festival.”

Studio Exhibits

Stan Miller’s studio exhibition in his private studio, 3138 E. 17th, will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. Dec. 5.

Miller has exhibited with American Watercolor Society, Society of Illustrators, and will show his latest watercolors and egg temperas. For more information, call 535-5257.

Donald Clegg’s annual open house exhibition, 1527 W. 13th, will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m. next Sunday.

Clegg will display new watercolors and still lifes - and announce his “Signature Membership” into the National Watercolor Society. For more information, call 747-3249.

The Art Spirit Gallery, 908 Sherman in Coeur d’Alene, will host a “Small Artworks Invitational” featuring 26 regional artists, Friday through Dec. 31. A reception will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday.

Auditions

Spokane Civic Theatre will hold auditions for “Steel Magnolias,” at 7 p.m. next Sunday and Dec. 6 in its Firth J. Chew Studio Theatre, 1020 N. Howard.

Director Jamie Flanery needs six women who appear from 20 to 50 years old. Auditioners are asked to read the script, available at the theater with a $10 refundable deposit..

“Cream of Wit,” by Unexpected Productions, will hold auditions at 7 p.m. Dec. 7 at Spokane Falls Community Colleges’ theater, 3410 W. Fort George Wright Drive. Auditioners must be at least 18 years old.
