Dent Grabs Lead

Jim Dent shot an opening-round 63 to take a two-stroke lead in the $1.5 million Vantage Championship in Clemmons, N.C.

The 60-year-old Dent had eight birdies and one bogey in his 7-under-par round to lead four others by two shots at Tanglewood Park.

Bruce Fleisher was in a group at 5-under 65. He is joined by Bob Duval, Tom Jenkins and Gary McCord.

Annika Sorenstam turned a four-shot deficit into a two-stroke lead with a 6-under-par 66 in the second round of the New Albany Golf Classic in New Albany, Ohio. Her two-day total is 134.

Rathdrum’s Tracy Hanson was in the last group to make the cut. She shot a 73 for a two-day total of 147.

Stuart Appleby, David Toms and Harrison Frazar are tied for the second-round lead in the Buick Challenge in Pine Mountain, Ga.

Appleby fired an 8-under par 64 to get to 10-under 134. Toms carded a 66, while Frazar shot a 67.
