Ford Motor Co. agreed Tuesday to pay $7.75 million in damages to settle federal charges that it allowed sexual harassment of female employees at two Chicago-area plants. Ford also agreed to block promotions of supervisors who know of such activities and fail to take action.

The Internal Revenue Service is shortening its World Wide Web site address. Taxpayers can now reach the site on the Internet by typing www.irs.gov.

Philip Marineau, who has been credited with broadening PepsiCo.’s appeal, was named president and chief executive officer of Levi Strauss & Co.

Zale Corp. appointed Beryl Raff as its new chief executive, making her one of the only women to lead a major U.S. retailer. Raff replaces Robert J. DiNicola, who led a turnaround of once-struggling jewelry chain over the past five years. He will remain chairman. Raff was company president and chief operating officer.

A federal court ruled that clothing retailer The Limited Inc. owes taxes on $174.1 million from transactions between a foreign subsidiary and another entity created to handle The Limited’s creditcard business.
