New faces:

Recent additions to the Spokane office of Wendt Advertising and Public Relations include:

Diane Anderson was hired as a production manager. She manages projects for the account staff and creative team and is responsible for project estimates and quality control. Anderson has a background in print management and graphic design.

Jennifer Seib joined the company as an administrative assistant.

She received a bachelor’s degree in English from California State University Bakersfield. Seib previously was a transportation specialist for the Air Force at Edwards Air Force Base in California.

The Spokane Area Convention and Visitors Bureau has named Lucy Gurnea as member relations manager. Gurnea has more than 25 years of experience in sales and marketing, management, business telemarketing consulting, fund raising and directing special events. She previously was director of the Environmental Forum for Business and marketing director for the Green Star Program, which promotes voluntary sustainable business practices. She recently coordinated a series of events celebrating the 25th anniversary of Expo ‘74. Prior to moving to Spokane in 1986, she was director of marketing for Trigon Management Systems in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Terri McKenzie, former director of continuing education and renewal programs at Gonzaga University, has been named vice president for enrollment services and student development at Spokane Community College. McKenzie will oversee student enrollment; student database management; admissions and registration; student records, counseling, testing and assessment; academic standards; and financial aid. She also supervises the college’s career center activities; graduation activities; student government, student activities, clubs and organizations; and services for multicultural, international and disabled students. McKenzie, who earned a doctorate in educational leadership at Gonzaga, began her career in higher education in 1972 at Community Colleges of Spokane, where she worked in communications and development.

Evan Armstrong and Diana Rollnick have joined the Spokane-East Sprague office of Windermere Real Estate as sales associates. Armstrong previously worked at KC Properties in Spokane and from 1965-93 was the owner of Omni Restaurants Inc. Rollnick previously worked at the Janek Co. in Spokane.

Starting up:

Nancy Perkins and Nancy Black have opened Lilac City Physical Therapy & Sports Rehab LLC at 28 E. Indiana. Perkins, who has 15 years of experience as a physical therapist, specializes in pelvic floor conditions, including pain, incontinence and limitations related to surgeries, post partum and injuries. Black, a veteran of 10 years as a physical therapist, specializes in chronic pain conditions and musculoskeletal injuries involving cervical, thoracic, lumbar and S-I joint dysfunction. They also treat all other musculoskeletal conditions, including sports-related injuries.

Elected

Jean Irvine, executive assistant to the chief operating officer at Coeur d’Alene Mines Corp., has been elected Northwest district director of the International Association of Administrative Professionals. As district director, Irvine represents more than 3,000 association members from 13 states. She has been an IAAP member for more than 20 years, is a past president of the group’s Coeur d’Alene chapter, and has held several regional leadership positions in the association’s Northwest District and Washington-Alaska Division.

Kudos:

Kevin Clegg, Sandpoint City Planning director, has been awarded the 1998 Feature Article of the Year award by Western Planner Magazine. Clegg received the award for his July 1998 article on reaching for excellence - a guide for providing exceptional customer service. Western Planner is distributed in 13 Western states, including Alaska, and provides a journal of information and ideas for local government planners and planning commissions.

The Pend Oreille Conservation District Board of Supervisors has won the Washington state 1998-99 Goodyear/NACD Conservation Award. The award is given for outstanding planning to provide service, organizing to furnish that service and implementing local conservation programs assisting landowners while addressing natural resource concerns. The award is given to the top district in each state. Washington has 48 districts.

Mike Weger, a manager for Potlatch Corp. in Post Falls, has been named Production Management Committee Member of the Year for 1998 by the Composite Panel Association. Weger has served on the committee since 1991 and currently is its vice chairman. He will become chairman at the association’s fall meeting. The Composite Panel Association is a group of producers of particleboard, medium density fiberboard and other compatible products.
