Area Students Complete Studies At Willamette U.

Six Inland Northwest students have graduated from Willamette University in Salem, Ore.

The students’ names and degrees are listed by their hometowns:

Colville: Lupine Skelly and Matthew Smith, business economics.

Spokane: Bradley Mickelson, business economics/history; Benjamin Nelson, philosophy and politics; and Jeremy Scarpelli, economics.

Veradale: Andrew Connellan, business economics.

Michelle Bewley received a $1,500 “Touch the Future - Academic” scholarship based on academic performance and community service.

Bewley, a 1998 graduate of University High School, is attending Spokane Falls Community College and plans to transfer to Eastern Washington University to major in education.

She is the daughter of Phyllis and Dennis Bewley, Spokane.

Benjamin Brattebo received the American Legion Scholarship from Syracuse University’s Army and Air Force ROTC.

Brattebo is a junior majoring in environmental engineering in the L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science at Syracuse University in New York.

The 1997 graduate of West Valley High School is the son of Tom and Bette Brattebo, Liberty Lake.

Nicole Lund, Spokane, a senior at Washington State University, received a $1,200 scholarship from the Washington State Employees Credit Union.

Lund was one of 25 scholarship recipients based on academic record, community and school activities, financial need and a written essay.

She is majoring in interior design.

Air Force Airman Chad Roe graduated with honors from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

Roe is a 1997 graduate of Central Valley and the son of Edward and Christy Roe, Greenacres.

Army National Guard Pfc. John Potter graduated from one station unit training at Fort Knox, Ky.

Potter, son of Carrie House, Spokane, is a 1998 graduate of Mead High School.
