Street Smart
One of the more interesting entries unveiled Tuesday at the Frankfurt, Germany, auto show was the Daimler-Chrysler Smart car, a micro-compact that comes in coupe, convertible and diesel versions. The tiny Smart, like many entries at the Frankfurt show, is designed to be practical in Europe’s crowded cities. There are no plans for American sales. The convertible version, called the City-Cabrio, will be available in March 2000 and comes with a soft top that is electrically operated and can be opened in three ways - from partially folded back to completely concealed in the trunk on the car.
